A new gen

A fcking nightmare again. I want a new gen, a simple and elegant everyday watch and have narrowed to these two. And please, no talk about how the money would be better spent on reps. I´ve also considered Oris & Longines but they "feel" a bit cheap.

Now the prices: Eterna is 2000€ and IWC 2200€.

So, which one?

For me, going on looks only, the IWC - plain, uncluttered, elegant, understated. The other one is a bit fussy IMO.

What´s wrong with Eterna? I guess both are powered by ETA-based machines. Any thoughts on that?

Not much brand recognition with Eterna. I'm sure they are fine machines, but not exactly the prestige of an IWC.

 

Baume & Maurciea (sp?) are the way to go for that style of watch. Have you looked at those yet?

IWC all the way - no hesitation. Much better long-term investment and, frankly, a prettier watch

I have, but presently they don´t have anything appealing (sub 2500€). I have one Baume&Mercier already. What bothers me with them, is that they are very ETA too, but so are all in this price range I guess.
