jdoe 0 Posted September 7, 2011 what have the SS got to do with gold plating? do they control it? :P well, since you ask: "Gold is not neccesary. I have no interest in gold. We will build asolid state, without an ounce of gold behind it. Anyone who sells above the set prices, let him be marched off to a concentration camp. That's the bastion of money." Ollifl 0 Posted September 7, 2011 It depends on the occasion, so yes, I think you should have a YG/RG watch or two in the collection. I use mine when the wife makes me wear wedding ring (middle) and a suit (in the closet), doesn't happen very often but at least I know I have something to go with a tuxedo other than a "sub"

honeybear 0 Posted September 7, 2011 I've avoided gold plated watches for some time, because I tend to get fussy about scratches in polished metal, but I'm afraid that my overzealous polishing will wear off the plating, at which point the watch is a total loss as far as I'm concerned. At some point, I would like a nice solid gold dress watch, but in a gen... solid gold replicas are insane!

Luthier 1 Posted September 7, 2011 Luthier (damn that man!) I love you too, mate. No, seriously... Patek Philippe just must be in RG, it's not a sporty TAG or Omega, it's a jewelry!!! Ofcourse, you shall not wear it if you work in your garden, or on daily basis in your office... but if you're going out, in nice suit, why not??? It's a dressy watch!!! I'm wondering, why people still discuss it.
