graman 2 Posted September 18, 2011 Well....I've been hunting. I can't find a replacement 2007 Cousteau Aquatimer anywhere ...apparently the factories are not making another run for several months. :( Oh well....going to save for it again, but pick up something in the mean time. This means I have some choices to make, and since Sunday is here (and nearly gone), I thought I'd ask the forum for thoughts. Here's what's up for consideration. I haven't even started on the Breitlings yet....I do like a Super Avenger...and the SOSF Ok....here we go. 1. The IWC Top Gun. I really like this watch.....Ceramic case, great dial, The strap is pretty cool too....basically very awesome. I have a previously stated hangup about the Topgun logo on the side of the watch...it bugs the shit out of me. 2. The Spitfire Doppel great lume, classic design...nice...I'm not completely convinced with the dial, but nonetheless, a very nice bit of kit. 3. The 3717 What can you say to this? classically well repped, great design, compliments my Spitfire laureus nicely with a croc strap. 4. The Portuguese 7-day Lovely dress watch..likely my top choice for a dress watch next to a Lange1 or a Saxony. 5. The Mark XVi How can you look at a 3717 and not look at this? Classic pilots watch. 6. The Ingy. I'm not sure why I'm entertaining this Only available with the nylon strap. I like the AMG dial with the SS case...not accurate, but lovely. Available from Jandrew. 7 The Omega Railmaster XXL Nice.....seriously..on the list. 8. Anonimo Millimetri I have a soft spot for this.....not sure why....but I do So...there we have it.... I'd add a po 45mm on to this, but there should be one enroute. Tell me what you think folks....decisions, decisions...decisions.
Corv99 2 Posted September 18, 2011 portuguese 7 day , or Railmaster for me
graman 2 Posted September 18, 2011 Nice dress watches...
Silverspeed 10 Posted September 18, 2011 The Portuguese 7 days looks very good.....but the current versions are not all that good, not the best finish and a very loud rotor My pick would be the new Iwc Doppel with the silver dial....looks like the best made rep
houndoggie 58 Posted September 18, 2011 3717 is the most versatile. Great rep too.
Tits McGee 7 Posted September 18, 2011 (edited) Gotta go with the Top Gun. I agree with you about the logo on the side of the watch. It's juvenile & takes away from the seriousness of the watch. I don't even like the little red airplane on the second hand. That being said, it's still an incredible watch. Or the 3717. graman 2 Posted September 18, 2011 True... 3717 is more versatile....and the new Silver spit doppel...impressive.... I want to pull the trigger on the top gun, but that logo.....
graman 2 Posted September 18, 2011 Hmmmm....Wat.... 3717........
powderfreak 0 Posted September 18, 2011 I would pick the Railmaster, the Anonimo Millimetri and maybe the Portugese (if you need a dresswatch )
NFleischer 4,355 Posted September 18, 2011 I like the regular Top Gun- the Doppel is kinda big for me. Too bad Lay is gone- he had good deals on the St. Exupery Chrono. Asian 7750 has some cheap Spitfires also.
jer2911tx 0 Posted September 18, 2011 i like the 3717
graman 2 Posted September 19, 2011 I like the St Exupery.....not a popular choice, but the dial and numerals are great! Hmmmm... the 3717 may have it...
mulder 0 Posted September 19, 2011 I love IWC but the omega rail master aqua terra XXL with small seconds is one of my favs. Number 7 on your list. Have you asked Robert about the 2007 Cousteau? I thought he had one on auction a while back.
paulro 2 Posted September 19, 2011 Most of these are really nice, the Railmaster and Portuguese are very classy classy. I too have a soft spot for the Aninimo but I also love the 3717 and the mark XV1. (Who sells this one?, i've not seen it) That's the problem here. I see watches and it starts costing me, again! Good luck with your choice
Turbo 0 Posted September 19, 2011 (edited) 4. The Portuguese 7-day Man, that's sexy. I was getting all horny for a Lange or Glashutte before I saw this one. Anyone know where I can get a nice replica of the IWC Portugese 7 day as above, with the grey dial ? Edited September 19, 2011 by Turbo
