Ntmf 0 Posted September 22, 2011 Hallo friends - the watch bug got me big time now! The funny thing is that my first better watch I had was fake Rolex, after that I only bought Gens (two to be precise) and then I got back to Reps. My first "better watch" was a fake Pepsi Rolex GMT without second timezone - got it in Thailand when I was sixteen in 1990 and destroyed the metal-strap in a bicycle-crash (watch still functional), wore it some time on a leather strap, and switched to Gens: First watch a Omega Speedmaster reduced in 1992, then after some years later in 2002 a Gen Rolex GMT II which never let me down. In 2010 I bought a Parnis-watch (Hommage to IWC-Portugieser) but I did not wore it one single day. It felt like betraying my Gen Rolex. My Rolex on the other side is my daily-rocker - only time I do not wear it, is when working with vibrating machines. The sad thing is - it looks a bit beaten up right now und needs a service. However I will search in Germany for some kind of specialist that will give the case (and movement) a makeover - and after this I will only wear it to special occasions. Why? Reason is simple: A while back I started to look for Gen Panerais and fell in love with a 320 after the visit at an AD somehow - the only Problem was the price. After I found out that there are quite a lot people which collect Gens and Reps i thought that this is quite genius: It's far better to "rock" a rep, than rock a gen. So I can buy and wear some Panerai Reps and wear my Gen Rolex on special occasions. So I am really looking forward to meet some people here with the same interests, and maybe I find some people here in Germany with the same interests too! Thank you very much for reading my little "hello". Best regards, ntmf

Ntmf 0 Posted September 22, 2011 I am already deep in "trouble": Already ordered a PAM 111 and a PAM 292 And will order: 1. PAM 253 Ultimate (if not available: PAM 283, or 212) 2. PAM 196 (with a 7753 movement on steel bracelet) 3. PAM 177M (hfactory - Platinum plated movement - Swan Neck) (if not available: PAM 176) 4. PAM 288 Ultimate 5. PAM 328L with a7750 (no sunken date wheel, correct date font) dammit this is getting expensive really fast!
myaz 3 Posted September 22, 2011 Just adding another welcome. Your true "ah haa" moment will come when you wear your rep to that special occasion instead of the gen Rolex.
