What the heck...

Recommended Posts

Drhulee

Hello,

My name is Drhulee, and I'm quickly becoming a repoholic.

Though some would believe otherwise, I am not a Doctor. I'm a Toronto native. And have vowed on other forums, to keep my posts to a minimum (length wise) - but I make no promises here :)

I am currently a PAM fan, but like other makes as well - except for the Rolex brand, it's a personal thing, no disrespect meant to other members ;).

That's it for now.

Well welcome. We had another Toronto native (Burlington) but he fled to RepGeeks.

I like PAMs too, and Rolex. That's pretty much all I have now.

Welcome!

I came for Breitlings, and I still love them. But lately I've had a taste for pams for some reason. I am regressing, I think.

Anyway - jump on in.

We don't consider people from Burlington, as Toronto natives - especially when they are named Dave :notworthy:

I'll refrain from expressing my opinion here ;)

Seem to be a lot Canadians frequenting these boards. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), Mississauga is the only area in the GTA that have managed not to venture into, my entire 40 years here. Nor have I had any friends who've lived there, how have you guys managed to keep under the radar this long?

Welcome!

In the past two months, I've bought ten or so PAM reps, plus three more today, and I'm still not certain why I like them :D

I'll try to behave while here, and promise not to make too many derogatory comments about Rolexes :D

Welcome aboard!!!

It's understandable, why you like PAMs most, from the beginning almost everyone prefer most primitive watches with 2 hands only, but I'm sure - time will come, you'll grow up, and will start to appreciate the beauty of IWC, Breitlings, and, ofcourse, King of the Kings - ROLEX.

:notworthy::thumbsup::D

I hate to have to report my first negative experience here, but why so quick with the spam? I understand that you need to make money to support the board, I always become a donator/VIP/whatever because of this, but starting to receive spam just hours after registering, that's pushing it a little, no?

Just my opinion, I'm sure I'll still hang around and probably upgrade, but I was surprised by that.

I actually own a gen IWC, gen TAG, Maurice Lacroix, etc. I have varying tastes.

No comment on your last remark :D

What do you mean by spam? We do NOT send spam of any sort and we will NEVER share your email address with anybody else.

We do send a SINGLE welcome PM (not email) after joining just to fill new members in on the workings of this place and to encourage people to say hi. That's it.

Anyway, welcome to the board! :notworthy:

I guess there is a chance it may be coincidence. But I had just setup a clean email account on Yahoo before registering, as I always do when I don't know anything about the forum. I found I liked the board and it had some well known members from other sites, so I decided to switch over the email notification to my regular forums email account (yup I still isolate all forums from my day-to-day email account).

So I went back to the original "try-out" email account to clean-up any message I may have received from this board. Low and behold there was a spam email, whose subject was replica watches. The email also had an attachment, which I never open for obvious reasons. Given that this was a brand spanking new account, that the email arrived within hours after registering and that it was related to replica watches, I just assumed it originated from here. I apologize if I was mistaken, for now though I'll be switching back my email to the "try-out" one, just in case.

Ah - all becomes clear...

Nope, I can promise you that it's not anything to do with us - but I'm glad that you brought the subject up just so that I could set matters straight. No apologies required as I can certainly understand why you would draw that conclusion. However, I can assure you that all email addresses are kept strictly private unless you opt to add it to your public profile, and I give you my word that we will NEVER under any circumstances share them with anyone else.

For what it's worth, I have a gmail account that I've never even used, but it still gets spam... Don't ask me how - I can only assume that spammers are guessing email addresses :notworthy:

Good to know. By the way, I just looked at my google "spam bin" and there is a lot of replica watch related spam, so I guess some spam company approached all the rep watch sites with some proposal and this is the result.

As for guessing email address, they just have a program that continually generates addresses and adds it to a mailing database.

Possibly, although the replica watch spam seems to be outnumbering the viagra spam at the moment generally. I'm head of I.T. for a medium-sized charity and our spam filters are catching more replica watch spam than anything else at the moment. No doubt in a couple of months it'll move on to something else...

Yup, I'm a member of RG, same username. I just got into the hobby back in May of this year, and I've been feeding my addiction ever since. Just bought three more Panerais on Monday (one was by mistake) :notworthy:

No, I created a brand new one for this forum minutes before registering.

EDIT: Incidently, I haven't received any spam in the email account I have setup for my RG notifications, since you mention it.

No, not really. The email temporary email account I used for here was a Yahoo account - well know domain that spammers abuse on a large scale. The email account that I setup a month after using RG for awhile, is on my own domain - not a common one.

Already own a gen TAG, which is enough for me. Never really felt the urge to buy a Breitling :notworthy:
