10:10 Watch Repair 1 Posted November 19, 2011 Ok, this may be a reeeeeeally dumb question... ... but are all the gen Rolex Triplock crowns the same on their 'sports' watches? As in the same size and fitment on the Submariner, Seadweller, DSSD, Yachtmaster, Yachtmaster II, Daytona... ?? As far as I know they are all 7mm. http://www.horologist.com/rolex_crown.htm
Member X 91 Posted November 19, 2011 Ah cool, I wondered where that diagram of crown markings came from! I will have to do some more research... (and probably cross-post on other forums too! :( lol) Thanks for your help! :(
MikeMcNair 0 Posted November 21, 2011 No, they are NOT ALL the same!!!!! Some are, but not all! I know for a fact as I have a "Rolex O-Ring" box, with 3,000 o rings, and they are all for different models (well, nit 3,000 models, but you get what I mean bro)
Luthier 1 Posted November 21, 2011 Triplock mean 3 positions - winding, change date and setting the time. All Triplocks have 3 dots under the crown, but sizes of the crown are different.

Member X 91 Posted November 21, 2011 I thought they were called Triplock because they had 3-stage water protection? Hence the Day-Date and Date-Just also have the 3 positions thing that Luthier mentions but only 2 dots on the crown (when in precious metal), i.e. aren't triplock only 'duplock' or whatever it would be called lol Either way, I need a good source for some used crowns... LHOOQ 0 Posted November 21, 2011 Member X: I think you were correct in your initial understanding: Triplock gives you a seal in the crown, a seal in the tube, and a seal on the threads. Twinlock doesn't seal the threads. There are a few diagrams that can explain it better visually. As cls noted, all Triplocks are 7mm in diameter, but there are several types of them. So make sure you get the right one for your particular model, and the right tube to match.
ccucco 0 Posted November 21, 2011 Triplock means three position water lock... not three position crown. Three seals.
ccucco 0 Posted November 21, 2011 Better this way...
ccucco 0 Posted November 21, 2011 Even better! Triplock cut-away... if you see the direction the water needs to take to come inside the watch (red line) you will understand the seals of the crown.

BTW, it's a patented system, and followed the twinlock which means...hmmm, can't recall.
Baldrick 1 Posted November 22, 2011 Trip = tripleLock = well, figure it out. Well, blow me, you'd think, wouldn't ya twinlock which means...hmmm, can't recall. That's for the non-date versions, two positions, winding and hand adjustment...no? However, Luth's theory could be right, I mean they just dispoved the speed of light theory

Baldrick 1 Posted November 22, 2011 I can't quite see the correlation between the Gulag and your monumental lack of knowledge and seriously funny fuck-up Luth, care to explain or are you just trying a little diversionary tactic, you sly devious old dumbass, I know your game.
