mianos 0 Posted December 8, 2011 (edited) http://www.ebay.com....0#ht_590wt_1157 Either my rep is a super super duper rep or that's the same watch. Opinions? Report? (ps. given it's a user with only 3 feedback I'm betting 90% against gen). edit: double bonus points, the guy is in Australia, will only post to the US. olly593 0 Posted December 8, 2011 Well according to his feedback he's already sold one to a member with no feedback for $3000, don't think scammers are even trying anymore
mianos 0 Posted December 8, 2011 And another one. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Cartier-Santos-100-XL-W20073X8-Mens-Steel-Auto-New-/280786686367?pt=AU_Watches&hash=item416030d19f#ht_4830wt_1139 That one even has the 'gappy' deployant and another very close serial. I can see 2 more now so I guess it's no news worth posting.
mianos 0 Posted December 8, 2011 FFS olly! I see what you mean. That's f*ing ridiculous.
olly593 0 Posted December 8, 2011 FFS olly! I see what you mean. That's f*ing ridiculous. I know right perhaps he just likes trying to rip people off and enjoys paying ebay fees
mianos 0 Posted December 9, 2011 haha, just 2 numbers from this one: http://www.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/ultimate-cartier-santos-100-anyone-82827.html I bet it's got the same movement.
Luthier 1 Posted December 10, 2011 Unsigned papers??? And... what idiot will sell $8K watch for $3K??? BS.

And another one. http://www.ebay.com....#ht_4830wt_1139 That one even has the 'gappy' deployant and another very close serial. I can see 2 more now so I guess it's no news worth posting. The first one is a rep, I'm willing to bet my left nut for it. For me the biggest tell are the bezel screws, on the rep they're too round Also the dial font is too bold The second one looks like a gen to me
trailboss99 994 Posted December 10, 2011 Dunknow SS, the good ($1400+) rep is very good indeed. No tells at all AFIK.
Silverspeed 10 Posted December 10, 2011 True, the $1500 Santos can easily pass as a gen....although the box set that comes with $1500 santos is the crappy rep box, which would be a dead give away That's why I reckon the second one is gen....that box set looks much better then the one that came with my Santos
trailboss99 994 Posted December 10, 2011 Box sets are cheap. you are still over 1k up for your trouble.
sconehead 5 Posted December 10, 2011 Hmmm, Rolex crown and Breit strap and deployant in his other listings...rep collector perhaps?
wat44 0 Posted December 10, 2011 seems suspect to me - I wouldnt be a buyer
trailboss99 994 Posted December 10, 2011 There is no way I'd buy any Santos without the AD looking at it first. Actually, why buy one at all when the 1.5k rep uses a gen MVT and (supposedly) mostly gen parts?
mianos 0 Posted December 10, 2011 The tell on the clasp is the gen does not have round screws. They are flat with rounded edges. gen: rep from above. This is the least sus one, the other one sold another one a while back, this guy is selling PS3 remotes and other crap. Looks like pawn shop. Anyway this clasp is a total piece of shit compared to the above. I've seen the gen, the watches are identical but the clasp is much better on the gen. This why
mianos 0 Posted December 10, 2011 Here is the clasp of a later gen:
Silverspeed 10 Posted December 10, 2011 problem with reps is that there are many variables.....rep clasp with flat screws, but the wrong rounded screws on the outside
mianos 0 Posted December 10, 2011 haha. True A dog's breakfast there.
trailboss99 994 Posted December 10, 2011 Yup, and these eBay adds never show the clasp
mianos 0 Posted December 10, 2011 Actually those ebay adds I pointed out show the clasp in all their glory (or not in these cases). Fake as Pammie's boobies.
trailboss99 994 Posted December 10, 2011 Oke, most are smart enough not to show it. these things come up all the damn time.
pollux1 3 Posted December 11, 2011 One thing's for sure, the highest end stuff could easily pass for gen and make an unscrupulous seller a pretty penny. If it were me as either a buyer or seller I would ensure movement propriety.
Frankt8242 1 Posted December 15, 2011 those $1500.00 reps are BUILT to scam unsuspecting tourists........IMNSFHO, they represent the vile underbelly of the FAKE watch industry, not the REPLICA watch trade!! The wide divergence in quality in Santos reps is remarkable..... I have an "XXL" I bought a few years ago from "pamfried" for $60.00 that would fool a lot of folks not wise enough to open it up!! It wouldn't fool any of US, but we represent a tiny minority......
