torobravo 9 Posted December 22, 2011 I don´t think that children can assamble watches... but In China many children are working, helping their families and it is not illegal. There are thousands of family owned businesses, like restaurant for example, where to owner´s son and daughter is working as waiter or whatever. It´s not that bad as you think at all. subiim 0 Posted December 22, 2011 Toro, from what I understand children work for less wage than adult. That is why they are more attractive job applicant to any employer
Luthier 1 Posted December 22, 2011 I don't think kids work at rep. factories. They're in school. But I'll ask.

Mystery Shopper 5,887 Posted December 22, 2011 I pay extra for a 'morning' watch. The children are less tired and overall quality is better. PS: the watches can't be made by children because pubes are often found in the watch movements when serviced.
LHOOQ 0 Posted December 22, 2011 PS: the watches can't be made by children because pubes are often found in the watch movements when serviced. That's the Chinese version of the "Inspected by Q.C." sticker.
greg_r 81 Posted December 22, 2011 Yup - in fact they charge extra for pubes... It's proof that your watch wasn't made by children, you see. You do need to be careful about grey pubes though, as that means it was built by geriatrics and we all know how dangerous that can be...

jdoe 0 Posted December 22, 2011 Given the size of the parts there can be no doubt that child labour is involved. Small hands are a must to assemble these things. Anyway good to see that children in some places do something useful with their time instead of being interned in a public school without having committed any crime. . mark8111 0 Posted December 22, 2011 "Given the size of the parts there can be no doubt that child labour is involved." Don't they have small parts in gen watches .. If so then from the above statement children must work in Gen factories Cheers Mark
