Recommended Posts

KeNnY

Hey all,

so this is LOOOOOOOOONG waited modding tutorial for the Porsche Design Diver P'6780 LITE Edition :) The tutorial is divided to 2 posts, as I have so many pictures, that there is made an picture cap for me per post lol.... sorry about that...

And something about the LITE version, witch means that the LITE version is the 21J movement version of the Porsche Design Diver.

MOVEMENT: Asian 21j Autoamtic

CASE DIAMETER: 46mm

THICKNESS: 15.3mm

DIAL COLOR: Black

CASE MATERIAL: Stainless Steel 316

BRACELET: Rubber Strap

FRONT

GLASS: Mineral Crystal With AR

OTHER: Water Resistant

Price : 80 €

As for the other things, apart the ETA version has got titanium, and sapphire glass, the LITE version has got better dial with the metal indexes as per gen, but other than that, has got different date position, what is not gen like. Also the inner bezel is a bit shorter, and not lumed. But the lume is green where on the Gen is Aqua like on the DSSD (BG-W9). The biggest flaw on the ETA version are the strap issues near lugs, what made me sell the ETA version and buy the Lite version. On the Lite version it is fixed, with one whole piece of rubber strap moulded, and different size of the strap as long with the different buckle. Pics of the LITE version

MODDING PART

SO lets sums UP what I am going to do, to make this watch look more gen, and have better feeling from it :)

Modding list

  • Superlume the dial indexes, hands, bezel markers as per gen with Aqua BG-W9 color
  • Regulate the movement to COSC limit, but as much as possible near 0 seconds per day
  • Remove the black paint from the engravings on the sides
  • Clean the dial from some mess from factory
  • Use spare buckle with diver extension from the ETA version of Diver, what is more GEN like
  • Drill holes to the rubber strap, to use the spare buckle, as this time of the rubber strap use different mechanism to lock the buckle in place
  • Brush the release buttons for the watch, from the glossy finish to matte finish as per GEN

So we got the list :) lets get on with the ULTIMATE MODDING !

Watch before the modding

dsc0010jk.jpg

dsc0015qn.jpg

So lets get it started !

dsc0016xq.jpg

Shitty movement ! I will replace it in the future for the better 21J for sure. Already have problems with the date change, so we will see in couple of months.

dsc0017yh.jpg

So disassembled, lets get off the hands and indexes, and remove the old lume from it. Also lets get relumed the bezel. But first lets brush the pushers to matte finish.

dsc0022aa.jpg

dsc0025db.jpg

The pushers are hold by the small screws inside , so when you remove them, tape the case around so you will not brush the grey titanium finish from the case.

dsc0024zq.jpg

Then brush the pushers :) After that by reverse technique put the pushers back to their place. Now lets get off the black paint from engraving, For this use acetone and brush and toothpick, this is delicate work, so patience is required.

dsc0019mj.jpg

dsc0020gxa.jpg

dsc0021qj.jpg

Okay now when we have the easy part after us :) lets RELUME THE BEZEL ! yeah ! These is really precise work, as I still have only oilers, the easier is to do with stylograph pen as this is printed bezel.

dsc0039ww.jpg

dsc0041no.jpg

Now let it dry and lets relume the hands and indexes

dsc0062zk.jpg

dsc0064sh.jpg

dsc0065dg.jpg

So this was PART1 :) lets check the PART2 in next post, as I have again reached the limit cap for the PICTURES...

PART 2 Final Assembly !

Now after all is dried up, lets built the watch back to one piece :)

Crystal back to its place

dsc0066dy.jpg

dsc0067gm.jpg

Now dial and hands, and let it be built

dsc0004hy.jpg

dsc0003xf.jpg

Before the final assembly just let check the time keeping.

dsc00122hv.jpg

So +7 second per day, what is nice for the 21J movement, but I want it more to zero :D

dsc00132m.jpg

Soo been playing, and regulating and look, Haha now that is much much better ! :) I love this timegrapher ! :)

dsc00192ug.jpg

dsc00172ej.jpg

Now we need to drill the holes for the spare buckle that is from the ETA version what is much much more gen like.

So the best would be some dremel and 1mm drill part.

dsc0035nq.jpg

If you don't know the correct size of the band for your wrist, better make more of the holes, and then cut.. But always measure twice and cut once. I know my size because I have the old band from ETA version what should be the same size.

Here I have already assembled one size of the strap. You need to also cut around 1,5 mm from the size, as the rubber strap will not fit into the buckle.

dsc0036zl.jpg

dsc0037fh.jpg

So just to check, and we are good to go !!! :) Looks MUCH MUCH BETTER !!!

dsc0038tk.jpg

Lets fix it with the lugs screws and we are finished ! :)

FINISHED PRODUCT

I am happy with my ULTIMATE LITE version of the Porsche Design Diver ! :) And it is TRULY ONE OF ITS KIND !!!

Thank you for watching, and I hope you enjoyed it ! :)

Thank you mate :) Yeah the hardest one was drilling holes to the rubber strap :D as the dealers don't offer spare straps for this cheap model, I had only 1 try :D

Thank you mate. I don't recommend to do any modding before you don't have any experience :-) and also tools, but again this watch is quite cheap and my first watch was DSSD for 60 euro. Good luck mate :-)

Thank you buddy.

That watch is completely different from mine, maybe that is why I didn't take it. I like mine diver more. Two completely different watches :-)
