Glycine Airman 7 Homage

In my seemingly never-ending search for the perfect GMT watch I've so far purchased 2 Rep Rolex GMTs and a Breitling World GMT. I really like them, the Rolex gives me 3 time Zones at a glance, and all time zones with a twist of the bezel, if I know the offset to GMT. I work, and play, needing to know the time zones so it's not just for looks. It might be more wise to just buy a gen, but I am cheap and I can buy so many reps and now homages for the same money.

I had really planned on avoiding the homage watches just because I am cheap and not the collector some here are. JohnG introduced the homages here and others joined in knowing all about them when I didn't have a clue. So it's yet another education I got from this site and the people here. But I was happy with the better reps.

 

Then Omni had to go and post pics of his Glycine Airman 7. 4 GMT time zones. Gotta have one, dammit!

I searched all over the net, Ebay, etc., found one in Jordan for $1000 that was a very good price, but I didn't like the yellow dials it had and the fact it was in Jordan. New they are about $3,300. I checked with Joshua, Mary, Watcheden for rep Glycine, but none are available. Then I got the bright idea to search for homage Glycine watches. Found a number of them that were all 3 movements in quartz, or a mixture of automatic and quartz, but 3 time zones only, and prices ranging from about $50 to $300.

 

Then I found Tetashop a watch store on line out of Germany.

They have the TRIAS " Cosmopolitan " 50 mm with 3 Time Zones (with the GMT hand it has 4 times displayed) 3 Movements watch which is an homage very close to the Glycine. The main movement is an automaic, the two smaller are quartz.

 

They have an entire array of watches, and prices that are very reasonable.

 

I sent an email asking the usual questions, and Caudia at Tetashop answered quickly and seems to be very nice. I ordered it today, will see and report back about the service, quality, look and actual pics when it arrives.

Lol! Yes Doc, I saw those too! J&S watches, Joshua & Sons. Couldn't be?

They were one that I looked at, not that model, but no GMT hand on the main clock-face.

 

I really liked the look of this one, but again, no GMT hand on the main face, and it was all quartz.

Nice watch JoeyB. Compared to all the Italiano watches I've witnessed for the last three weeks, our watches at 50mm & 53mm seem puny. And Italians are very fashion conscious almost to a fault so I guess we should be looking at large watches as not fading from view for quite some time.

It came and works well, mechanical movement keeping good time, digitals are perfect. They say it is a T-282-43 movement. Anyone familiar with it? Where the movement is made?

 

I mink oiled the leather strap, and it wears very nice. Looks huge but doesn't wear huge. I like it!

I have seen the Trias watches on ebay Joey, they normally go for around £50 to £70. They look amazing, how is the quality as I have been tempted in the past to buy one?

I paid $150 USD shipped. It is very big, feels like very good quality and looks very good. I am disappointed that the 4th hand, the GMT hand is not settable, it follows the hour hand. I googled the movement but found little. The two smaller ones are quartz. All very accurate. Comes in a really nice case. But, it does not solve my issue, my tired eyes still need my reading glasses to read it.
