*Pics* Gen TT Sub vs. BK WM9 TT Sub

Recommended Posts

Pablissimo

First off, great post! I really enjoy seeing gens side by side with fine reps. Only upon close inspection did I notice a couple of differences that give the rep away:

-The crown on the gen dial is wider at the bottom than the one on the rep. (I've also noticed this discrepancy on a fine Yachtmaster rolesium rep I have when compared to my dad's gen.)

-The spacing between the words in the text "OYSTER PERPETUAL DATE" is different on the rep. Almost a double space as opposed to the single spacing on the gen.

I'm not sure if the newer gens read "SWISS MADE" at the bottom like the rep does, but this gen doesn't.

Thanks for uploading these pics!

Most of those dffrences you guys see are because the GEN is a much older model and the Rep is based on the newer models.

Yes, be very careful about "tells". Rolex has changed many small details over time.

There was a long and interesting discussion (on RWI ?) about Noob vs WM9 some time ago which ended up with someone being able to point out that the bulk of the "tells" were due to the two being reps of different versions of the Submariner.

I love threads like this. I'm a noob and don't know too much yet. The only difference I spotted was the spring bar, bracelet end links and the rep seemingly having more sunburst. Oh and the different wording at the bottom " -T" vs "swiss made"

The only reason why I was able to distinguish the gen from the rep was the gold coloring, but that's because I'm a geologist :P.

Just curious, some people mentioned the crown, hour and minute hands being different. Can some one explain why? I just don't see it.

/.edit

Was it that the crown imprint on the gen is "narrower" than that of the rep?

And that the minute hand is skinnier on the rep?

Still see no difference on the hour hand.

BK has a section here on the forum under the title BK's Watch Garage.

Go to main page and scroll down, you will see it.
