graman 2 Posted October 11, 2009 It has been 2 years since I purchased a watch...for me... Yeah...poor me....but that's ok...just how it works sometimes. Anyhoo....the drought has broken. I'm a few weeks off my 40th birthday, and my wife asks me "what do you want?" I reply..the same thing I've wanted for my last 3 birthdays....an IWC Spitfire chrono Laureus edition. Cue rolling of eyes. Can you buy it? she asks... Of course...I reply...and did so. Should be winging it's way to me this week. Checking functionality, then on ice until Melbourne Cup weekend when my family can give it to me... Pics will be up and I'll do a half-assed review when I'm awarded the prize. It's giving me an itch....like when you've first given up smoking for a few days. Have given up smoking for 7 years...not itching for drugs....just ticking...gonna have to watch my bank account....could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.. jameo210369 0 Posted October 20, 2009 Well done Graman, can't wait to see the pics. 40 soon, I turned 40 this year and it's nothing just another birthday; at least you got what you wanted and not a pair of socks. Has she got a S/S bracelet or leather strap.

I prefer straps....heheheheh
jameo210369 0 Posted October 20, 2009 The back of the dial is stunning on the model, three kids and a balloon I think. Well done mate, can't wait for the pics.

graman 2 Posted October 21, 2009 Ok....here are a few preliminary shots.... will now not have any more until mid-November, as My kids want to wrap it up for me. The watch has a great feel - It's a very dark dial...almost black until you look closely, or it's in very bright light, when the blue comes to the fore. It is uncluttered & very easy to tell time at a glance...although you end up spending more time staring into the dial It's heavy....a bit like a Pam, but fits very comfortably on the wrist...you wouldn't know it's there save for a bit of weight on the end of your arm. The bracelet has a good feel & is very solid. - the Pins are heavy duty...I was very suprised. Links are a little stiff, but I'm expecting they will free up over a couple of weeks use. The Laureus artwork on the back is well cut, and deep. Quite charming, although not everyone's taste, I enjoy the simplicity and sentiment. As previously stated, I love the dial on this thing, and get lost in the subtlety - There's a lot in there, and yet it's so clean... Quite happy with the lume. This shot is my first lume shot. Taken after about 40 seconds over a lamp. The lume stays active for several hours (I wake up a lot during the night with the kids) and I've been able to tell time in the dark after 4 or even 5 hours. Ok...I'll do a much more detailed review in a few weeks when I have time, but I had to share with someone who would appreciate how beautiful this is. I have 2 fetishes...Panerai & IWC...mmmmmmm Thanks for listening
