jameo210369 0 Posted October 24, 2009 Hi guys, Royal Mail hopes to be able to clear a backlog of millions of postal items before a second wave of strikes hits. The company puts the number of letters and parcels at about 30 million but the Communication Workers Union believes the figure is closer to 65 million. A further three strike days are planned from Thursday next week, in the dispute over pay, conditions and modernisation. The BBC has learned both sides in the dispute came "tantalisingly close to a deal" late last Tuesday. The TUC has said talks aimed at resolving the dispute will take place in London on Monday. The union said up to 120,000 workers "solidly supported" this week's action, which Royal Mail called "unnecessary". Royal Mail described the plans for three further walkouts on Thursday, Friday and Saturday as "appalling". I'll get my watches out to you guys as soon as possible, I am hoping that I can post them on Monday. Bloody post men / women

jameo210369 0 Posted October 24, 2009 I think if you shoot between 5 - 10 postal workers in 1 week you get a free car.

trailboss99 996 Posted October 24, 2009 Bloody hell you guys have some massive strikes over there. Is there no control over unnecessory strike action? Here they would be ordered back to work if they tried striking again while negoations were in progress. Col.
jameo210369 0 Posted October 24, 2009 Over hear Col the postal workers go on strike if the canteen is shut
greg_r 82 Posted October 24, 2009 And given that the canteen is generally shut.... Oddly, our local postal workers (in the village) have never yet gone on strike - they always continue working as normal. Only snag is that with all the other buggers on strike, they have nothing to do!
andy66 81 Posted October 24, 2009 Over hear Col the postal workers go on strike if the canteen is shut and the binmen,firemen.....if there job title ends in men, they strike.always near christmas aswell. it always gets me that the people who bring about these strikes(union leaders) dont loose out.im all for workers rights but striking never seems to solve anything. greg_r 82 Posted October 24, 2009 Yup - they strike. On occasions the army has had to provide emergency service. Bloody unions have outlived their usefulness imho.... don't get me started.
Luthier 1 Posted October 25, 2009 Population of UK is 61 million, and there's 30 millions parcels and LETTERS???????????? Did they ever hear about internet???
trailboss99 996 Posted October 25, 2009 Bloody unions have outlived their usefulness imho.... don't get me started. I may be an employer (allbeit one with no staff ATM) but I don't think that all unions have, just the ones who can't be reasonable in their demands/actions. There are industries that need a union even today especialy those with a lot of low paid workers who need some form of protection. There are however many unions who are crueling it for the rest by making regular and stupid demands on employers. Hell, even Ricardo Semeler has a union shop! Col. jameo210369 0 Posted October 25, 2009 In the UK Col the unions mess everything up, they have no real power any more but they still generate plenty of money. I am hoping to post your parcel tomorrow.
