It almost looks like the Widmanstatten pattern of a meteorite, kinda like the ones that Rolex uses for dials.

Sorry ZL, even the gen looks like a piece of shit, I don't think even seeing it in the flesh would improve it, it's just an incronguous lump, this isn't one of the betteer derivatons of Gerald Genta's beautful design, but, I'm not wearing it B)

but the thread is about the carbon parts and how close they are to the gen if not on par to them !!

just a quick update .. for anyone that is putting there GP on a gen strap it will not fit without the following mod

you will need the following!

DSCF0361.jpg

DSCF0363.jpg

DSCF0364.jpg

DSCF0365.jpg

dremel with a set of diamond drill files , better then using a drill bit as u have more control, as u need to make the hole more oval on one side*

tools for the job

1.dremel

2.diamond drill fill 1mm

3.metal vice

DSCF0360.jpg

DSCF0366.jpg

DSCF0367.jpg

its a simple 3 min job on each end-links just take you time a file of small amount and to keep checking to see how it fits .. keep it tight as u dont want to over do it on hole as screw as it will spin and not hold tightly once the strap and end links fit together

1. remove strap and end-link

DSCF0368.jpg

DSCF0372.jpg

2 secure in metal vice

DSCF0369.jpg

3 use dremel with diamond file drill

DSCF0371.jpg

4 remove small amount each time and check to see how it progressing

when mounting it back on strap

DSCF0370.jpg

job done the moddded end-link is on the right

DSCF0373.jpg

5. mount back on strap .. and sit back and enjoy fruits of your labour !!

That's some watch mate - quite a head turner! :thumbsup2:

Does that strap fit ok at the watch case? Looks like it sits a bit proud of the case, or is it just the angle of the pic?

thanks dell

yes your totally right it does sit proud so does the gen but not as much on the rep and the end links not the right profile and the gen strap has metal insets so there is no room for play at all not even 0.1mm

I'm impressed with the level of quality of the carbon parts.

not a fan of the 'look' of AP..... had this been a Hublot I would likely lose my marbles.

(...wow, I feel dirty after saying that...)

sick malade.

so.... we are all dying to know.... how much approx do you have into the watch? (not that it matters, curiosity only!)

enjoy it good sir!

:)

answer to your question good sir

the watch as cost me in totaly $1540 dollars

thats with out my time and effort in changing the fake carbon parts for the gen carbon parts

and modding the end links for the gen grand prix strap

$600 watch with shipping

$600 gen strap with shipping and taxes

$340 gen parts express shipping and taxes

total

$1540

with out my time on the change over parts

and modding the end links !!

there you go now you have a full break down
