Chiquita Fanjita 1,803 Posted April 12, 2012 Looking for help or advice regarding my dad's IWC Portugese. It is a quartz movement, and he said when adjusting the time he pulled out the crown as normal and the whole thing came right out. It does push back in, but when you wind it, it just adjusts the hours and minutes, it won't start the watch ticking again and the crown is very easy to pull back out completely. Any suggestions or advice? Here's a couple of quick pics to explain a bit better. Many thanks.

Is it the movement thats knackered? you will need to see if the release button is working ok on the movement, you need to take the back off push the crown back and see if it flip ups, the button.but these movements are really cheap

Crusader 0 Posted April 12, 2012 I had 2 cheap quartz watches so far that had this same issue... there was no way getting this thing back in and make the watch work. When I pushed it back in, hands moved when I turned the crown, but the watch didn't run. So I bought new movement and my watchsmith installed it for one watch. I presume the release button inside is very fragile, so it needs just a bit of force to break it.

There's a local watchsmith that I use so will try get a new movement and get her to sort it
Crusader 0 Posted April 12, 2012 It could be that he/she already has some stash of these quartz movements in his/her workshop. They usually have them from my experiences, the small 5 $ ones. But your watchsmith could be diffrent
