greg_r 81 Posted November 2, 2009 This isn't a watch - it's a wall clock Just to give you an idea of the sheer bleedin' size of the thing, here's a comparison shot. The tiny little watch next to it is a 47mm Radiomir! I bought this on impulse from Robert when he listed it on here recently. The standard PAM 341 I wasn't so bothered about, but the 'vintage' version (the gen was produced in very small quantities for the Egyptian military) has such a gorgeous dial, I couldn't resist. Firstly the basics. The watch is 60mm in diameter excluding the CG (!). It's very bulky indeed on the wrist but, as I suspected, not actually that much bulkier feeling than a BR01 (which is 46mm but being square is around 65mm corner to corner). It's also rather deep, however, which means you can forget about it fitting under shirt cuffs. The bezel is very nicely finished and the pearl has quite good lume. The CG looks the part and the lever is nice and tight, but the pin needs filing (as usual). Overall the watch feels very nicely made indeed. The engraving on the back is very well done and the dial is beautiful - although this version doesn't have much lume (not unexpectedly due to the colour of the numerals). The strap, however, is excellent and of similar standard to Getat's straps. Overall, all this really needs is the CG pin filing and some sympathetic vintagising to really look the part. What really gets me, though, is the weight of this thing. I've not actually weighed it but it feels three or four times heavier than my Fiddy - to the point of being difficult to wear - to stop it slopping around uncomfortably on the wrist, I have to wear the strap rather tight (I prefer to wear heavier watches a little loose). So, am I going to keep it? Honestly, I don't know right now - I can _almost_ get away with the size of it without looking too ridiculous although it's probably going to take an 8" plus wrist size to really pull it off (the 47mm Radiomir shown above doesn't look that big on me at all, but the Egi certainly does!). The downside is that the weight is a bit off-putting and may well put me off wearing it. I feel like I have a suitcase full of bricks strapped to my wrist The watch is stunning to look at, but I'm not sure that's enough to earn it a permanent place in my watch box. Other than possibly using it as a travel clock ( ), I'm going to try wearing it for a full day and then make up my mind. In the meantime, here's a couple more shots of the beast (sorry about the lack of a wristshot - I tried but it came out far too blurred. I'll have another try later and will update this post accordingly:

AllergyDoc 40 Posted November 2, 2009 I wonder how it would look on a rubber strap? I had the 47mm SlyTech, which was very top heavy, but fit snugly on rubber.
