Site of Dutch customs still says this:

Counterfeit products

It is forbidden to bring and import counterfeit products into the Netherlands. Customs will confiscate these products and you will have to pay a penalty.

Branded products are counterfeit to benefit from success of this branded product (intellectual property fraud).

The following products are often subject to counterfeiting:

•shoes

•clothing

•bags

•expensive watches

•illegally copied CD's and DVD’s

•perfume

Please note!

If traders abroad offer you what is known as branded products for extremely low prices, you may assume in nearly all cases that you are dealing with an illicit trade or counterfeit items.

Exception

It is forbidden to bring in and import counterfeit products. However you are allowed to bring in personally a very small quantity of counterfeit goods intended for personal use. The table below lists types of counterfeit products and quantities allowed to be brought in (according to the directives of the Public Prosecutions Service) If Customs finds more goods per defined category in your baggage than the quantity listed in the table below, Customs will confiscate all goods of the defined category. You will also have to pay a penalty.

Despite prohibition you are allowed to bring in the following counterfeit products

Type of counterfeit product Maximum quantity Remarks

Watches 3 articles

Perfume/Eau de toilette 250 ml

Music CDs 3 articles

Different titles

Music DVDs 3 articles

Different titles

Film DVDs 3 films

Several films. Three films on 1 DVD are permitted. Four films on 1 DVD are not permitted.

Software and games None

Other goods (such as clothing and toys) 3 articles/pairs

Please note!

This exception only applies if you bring in these goods yourself as a traveller. If counterfeit goods enter the Netherlands by post or courier the counterfeit goods will be confiscated and you may be prosecuted.

Further information about counterfeit products

If you need more detailed information regarding goods that you are allowed to bring in please, call Customs Information Line.

If you need more information about intellectual property fraud regarding music, film, video and interactive software please go to the Internet site of the Stichting BREIN (www.anti-piracy.nl) (only avallable in Dutch).

Violation is punishable

Customs and other investigation services will check whether you have complied with these rules. If you don not comply with these rules you will be liable to punishment and can be prosecuted.

Special products

Rules apply to certain goods you may receive from abroad. Such goods include:

•cash (over € 10,000 in cash and valuable papers)

•imitation articles

•endangered species of animals and plants

•animal products, including foods

•plants, flowers, vegetables and fruit

•weapons and ammunition, including toy weapons and false weapons

•medicines

•narcotics

•cultural goods (eg art and antiques)

See Travelbaggage on this website for rules about special products and pets

If you still have any doubts about whether such products may be imported, call the Customs Information Line

Violations punishable

Customs and other investigation services will check whether you comply with these rules. If you do not, you are punishable and are liable for prosecution.

Good to see that the Netherlands are decent about travellers who have picked up some dodgy stuff while away :thumbsup2:

Interesting thing about the endangered species though...

Makes me wonder exactly what customs would do were they to realise that some of the straps being posted around are made from elephant... (which I still think is quite wrong! but I guess they die at some point and there's a lot of hide going spare...)

The Jandrew sisters are both working here. Could be a euro thing.

RWG2 appear to be having an issue with Verizon too. Verizon users can't log on without a proxy.

Looks like RWG2 may have cured whatever ailed Verizon users too.
