DeLaForce 2 Posted May 21, 2012 After seeing Uwe's Egiziano build, plus a last nudge from DFH i will soon be doing my own build. So while I wait for parts I thought i would get some practice in! Creating a Rustmariner, Rustdweller, piece of junk, whatever you want to call it The watch was a $30 coca-cola special from Silix, which was just sitting in a drawer collecting dust, so i decided i wanted to create a watch that looked like it had been submerged for many years, like most of the projects iv'e taken on there has been a tutorial by Uwe/timebandit, if you dont know who he is check his section out, fucking brilliant. Anyway here's a few pics of the project so far... Rusting / acid Plexi making Dial painting/relume Didn't take many pics of the rust/acid part safety first Plexi
DFH 0 Posted May 21, 2012 Very cool! Looks like you are well motivated for your EGI build/mod!!! The oxidation you came up with really recreates a SS submerged for a ong period - reminds me of the type of rust I get on my sailboat cleatings, winches and other SS surfaces - thank God for Naval Jelly!!! Keep is in the loop - really excited to see how this turns out, and of course the EGI project... Cheers!

DeLaForce 2 Posted May 27, 2012 Finished it today, made a 2 piece bezel as my new dial was the wrong size(idiot )!!, but I was adamant to make it work, turned out pretty cool with the brass ring edge IMO, bit different Gave it a red seconds hand , aged the dial, made some vintage lume, but interestingly still glows very neon green! Came across many problems on the way, I guess that's what happens when you make shit up as you go I'll give more details if anyone wants to know, but I'm off to the beach!! ( no water for this titanic)Have a great wk-end Rik SORRY FOR QUICK CRAPPY PICS
KeNnY 29 Posted May 27, 2012 Nice mate ! BTW LUME that ring around the dial ! YOu can take inspiration from my Project NEPTUNE Atleast you can make the lume darker but still will be glowing, or just paint the backside black and will not be that noticeable that the dial is smaller than the rehaut. DeLaForce 2 Posted July 27, 2012 (edited) Changed dial hands and put it on leather, works a bit better for me , probably put it on all black insert when it arrives. Edited August 5, 2012 by Stur
DeLaForce 2 Posted August 5, 2012 Updated: for Diego and DFH It was my original rustmariner that I wasn't happy with ... Changed the dial aged/lumed dial hands, put on a a leather strap and changed to a black insert to match the dial better.
