Breitling deployant clasp is a pile of crap

Recommended Posts

tommylad

Hi guys,

I'll post a pic up later, as I don't have time now. Just received a white dial Breitling Chronomat Evolution with leather strap and deployant. The deployant is a steaming pile of shit as far as I can tell. It is difficult to work, hardly fit the rep strap and wasn't very secure (kept popping open). I put my new Meyerhoffer sharkskin strap on it and it won't close at all.

Now, I may have fastened it wrong, but I don't think so. Either this is faulty or this is a dreadful piece of design.

Anyone have similar problems or know of a simple fix for me?

I'll post pics later to allow for a fuller diagnosis.

Cheers,

Tommy

Yeah, that's what I've done. May be faulty. I'll post later with an update. Any chance of close up photos of the clasp? so I can see what shape everything should be in.

You need to bend it slightly. Mine was the same but just needed a little effort. Worked perfectly after that and to be honest, was my favourite type of clasp.

See the 2nd picture, you need to bend that so that the lip can catch. All sorted after that my friend.

What's the verdict? These pieces look bent to me. Can I bend them back? Unscrew something etc etc.

BENT, as a nine bob note.............Tom with a little bit of care you bend it back.. over the years i have had 10 or so Breits and never had a problem, as mentioned before i prefere them to most others.

Just take a little care you'll be fine......

I'll attempt to bend it back. I might send the photos top the TD first though.

How annoying. Is that degree of bend likely to affect how the strap opens and closes etc? By that I mean have other people had good experiences with this type of clasp?

Thin pliers will do the job, Tommy.

I've just sent the email. It's a shame because the watch is an absolute stunner. Silver dial Chronomat Evo.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll wait to hear from the TD and then attempt a salvage operation.

I know. I'm just treading carefully. The clasp doesn't lock at all, which makes me think there could be a couple of problems. We'll soon see.

No luck. Everything on the clasp came bent. I gave it a little nudge so the button and hole lined up. But everything else is miles out, so it's an impossible job (for me). Looks like I'm going to have to wait a couple of weeks for a new clasp before I can wear this one.

Very annoying

Hmmm pic 1 looks a little loose. Def out of joint abit compared to mine plus pic 2 looks well bent, did you do that or was it how it came?

Like that when it came. Baffling that it made it through QC. I'm not impressed.

A good idea. I'll finish my work and then post some. Also have a 176 on rubber. The Pam 380 and 42mm PO are arriving in another package.
