snpr9696 0 Posted July 6, 2012 It is my belief that a vintage ammo designed strap should be made as the leather dictates. Discoloration, stains and scuffs as well as previous lacing holes and armory stamps should be preserved. They add to the originality and character of the strap. They also ensure each one is truly one of a kind. I feel that the strap should be made to display these characteristics to give you a strap with a story. Made from a WWII rifle oiling can pouch. The natural curvature of the pouch was kept and used as the long end tip as well as the overlap on the underside. Original lacing holes and stains were preserved to add that character. Stitched with waxed linen thread. New oil tanned hide leather was used as backing for the strap to add comfort and durability. The strap has been oil treated and is close to 5mm thick. snpr9696 0 Posted July 8, 2012 Here is another one made from a rifle oiling can WWII pouch. The pouch that was used was very dark and rich. When the leather pouch was torn down it revealed a very nice reddish brown lighter in color that was protected throughout the years. It made for a really nice looking vintage strap.
