part_timer 0 Posted June 27, 2012 Got in the mood yesterday to take some snaps of my collection to share with ye watchnuts! (Sorry for the poorish quality) I caught the rep disease back in May 2010! My first was the GMT II from Mary. Latest is the gorgeous white faced Explorer II 21j. (If you haven't got one yet, I recommend you get one, fantastic quality and outrageous stock lume!) The Pam 243 is the old type with mind of it's own crown guard lever, so I fancy upgrading to the new model sometime. The Pam 359 keeps erratic time, so need to send that away to a good watch tinkerer too. I bought the two boxes in Lidl supermarket @ £8 each last Christmas. They are sold as "Tea Boxes", but on various watch forums news of their arrival into the stores spreads like wildfire! I just sliced some pipe insulation to correct size to fit in the sections. Just waiting patiently on Kenny for my DSSD to "complete" my collection. (Although does anyone ever complete their collection?)

Luthier 1 Posted June 27, 2012 You're genius about pipe insulation. I have 5 tea boxes, but couldn't find the pads.
fatarms 7,779 Posted June 27, 2012 Wow - nice collection. Can get over the tea boxes! Tell me where did you get that round foam? I want to get some as it makes my rolled up bits of foam look crap. Any major hardware chain store should have it, used for insulation for water pipes. Sweet collection there

scorpion 0 Posted June 27, 2012 Bloody hell - I have been trying to think of what to use for my box for ages and totally forgot about pipe insulation. I will get down to Screwfix or B+Q asap. That looks so neat - thanks for the info
part_timer 0 Posted June 27, 2012 Re: the pipe Insulation. Cut about 1/8" wider than needed ( nice and square now, no angled cuts!), then you can cut wafer thin slices off till you get a tight fit. A nice sharp carving knife cuts through the stuff like butter (almost).

Hazz 0 Posted June 28, 2012 What I love about this forum, there is no real jealousy, we all appreciate that some have more than others, and all are praised, what a lovely family we have here.
micscave 1 Posted June 28, 2012 I love the "Lidl Tea Box" idea. I'd never heard off this before but it looks great. I did a google and there's threads about them on loads of different forums. From what I can tell, Lidle last had them in at the end of May. One of my wifes tasks tomorrow is to go in to Lidl. Great looking collection & thanks for the heads up re the tea box.
