Melikey 0 Posted July 13, 2012 I know it has been asked before but I have yet to find a definitive answer. Can the 4813 in the 42mm PO easily be swapped with an ETA 2824? I, like many others I’m sure, would like to franken my PO. Specifically, what would need it be changed (ignoring the obvious dial and hands) to drop in the ETA? The dimensions of the 4813 seem to match exactly, down to the stem size. Can I use the crown with the ETA stem? Can I use the 4813 movement holder for the ETA? Thanks for any information on how this would work!
kennycoder 97 Posted July 24, 2013 Have you even managed to performe this swap? I'm actually trying to fit 2836 movement and will try to re-glue the dial feet so it can fit eta movement. How about the holder? From what I've seen it should work fine.
greg_r 82 Posted July 24, 2013 crown should fit the stem. As you say, hands will need to be replaced as will the movement holder.
kennycoder 97 Posted July 25, 2013 Thanks. I'll try to figure it this weekend and will post some pics. Not sure why movement holder will have to be different, aren't both movement same size? I know 2836 is a bit taller but why wouldn't it fit?
Lokin 0 Posted July 25, 2013 Wait just a bit of clarification, you plan on putting in the ETA that gets taken by Omega and converted into the Omega 1120? Or the actual 1120? Also very interested in the swap...
kennycoder 97 Posted July 25, 2013 I have a spare 2824-2 movement here so I wanted to use it in my PO that has faulty 4813. Already bought gen hands, black datewheel and planning to mod the dial so it fits ETA movement. Just not sure about the holder and Hour/Minute pinion sizes. I think PO needs taller ones so it doesn't touch the dial. Take a look here, seems that the guy did it successfully: http://www.rwg.bz/board/index.php?showtopic=39205
