3646 welded/shaped

Recommended Posts

DeLaForce

After my first attempt of a 3646 I ended up taking too much off near the bezel lip which left a sizeable gap, looked pretty crap IMO so I got another case left the bezel on wrapped up in tape and went at it. Just a lite reshape for now as I like the way it's looking and don't want to push my luck again :) .Plus I tried my first welding lugs today which went as badly as expected , but nothing a lot of grinding/sanding can't fix !

Here's my log so far, I'm still not sure about the hands..

Parts

: silix case

: NW plexi, tall bezel, and solid caseback

: Southy Dial

: helenarou blue hands/ but have some ayatha hands on route!

: 6497 h3

Oh dear

Some ppl use compete solid lugs, but I like to change straps often so I went with the springboard option :)

Question for you, brother...

The only thing I don;t like about the Silix 6154 case are the lug screws with those tiny end-cap screws that are far too easy to lose... They strip easily and are a general pain in the ass... Had them on the 300 as well previously.

Any standard replacement screw or springbar that can be used out of the box - or am I gonna have to drill out the case holes with a 1/16 bit so they will accept standard screws/bars?

Yeah D there's two options I can recommend depending on how you want the lug to look from the outside... If that makes sense . If you don't want to drill a 1.6mm holes with pressure fit bars, which is not too hard to do....but still have to disassemble watch etc.. But gives the best look IMO . There are also these cool screw tip looking spring bars that look like reg bars but act like reg springbars!

Here's a pic

Some ppl I've seen even Solder the tip and sand to look cylindrical , to make them look like pressure fit bars!

If you need some I have spare but not certain how they would fit ...

Thanks for the offer, brother - I think I will take you up on it! I do not want to disassemble - I should have had this taken care of during the building stage - but it totally slipped my mind...

PM me your details and I will gladly pay for them as well as the shipping. You are a true gent and font of crucial info!!!!

As I'm waiting for parts , I decided to have a go at the case I went too far on, I thought why not try fill the gap with solder and see whet happens :)

Turned out quite good , took along time but better than a useless case

That looks awesome :notworthy:

I have similar parts but have failed to get anything built!

Can you do a side profile shot to show the plexi dome and post a link to the plexi too? Sorry to be a pain :thumbsup:
