Panerai Radiomir PAM 373

Recommended Posts

greg_r

This just came in from Timesshop - 10 days via airmail from order. Couldn't have been a smoother transaction.

It's one of Panerai's recent 'vintage-style' limited editions, the PAM 373. It's a 47mm Radiomir with an absolutely stunning brown dial and I've been meaning to pick up the rep pretty much ever since I first saw a photo of the gen. I had been thinking of picking up a rep of the vintage version, but the 373's brown dial just swung it for me...

Of course there are some differences from the gen - notably the movement (a standard 6497) and the fact that the gen is a platinum case, not SS. However, given the price differential....;)

The dial and hands are particularly well executed - the dial is just stunning; a rich chocolate brown with the 'patina' style indices - which look almost gold in the right light. Hands are the correct bow-tie profile in a gold finish. Crystal is plexi as per the gen

Lume is, sadly, pretty much non-existent, but that's about the only real niggle I have. The watch came on the standard 'vintage ammo style' rep strap that we've been seeing a lot of lately, and it's wrong for the watch. The gen comes with a tapered brown croc strap and I'll be getting one for this watch very shortly.

Honestly, this is one of the nicest sub-$200 Radiomirs I've seen. Love it.

Pics below. I'll add more when I get a decent strap for it...

James.

I'm very dissapointed in the glaring inaccuracy of this rep not being of a platinum case...

Love it! The Rad case is a thing of beauty forever.

Looking forward to seeing it on a proper strap. How about a 26/22 lightly padded chocolate brown iguana?

Very nice, love the looks of it and lack of swiss made at the bottom. :)

P.s.: There is still some blue stuff on the crown I think :giggle:

Hi Greg,

Congrats on this beautiful PAM

have a similar one......

(my wife's fav from my collection BTW... she's not as much into into watches yet ....but am working on it ;-))

I like the unique dial on this PAM (dots /baton) vs the "normal" PAMs...

The dial color seems to match the "vintageness" of the timepiece.

Size wise... personally, this size ( 47mm) is definitely my preference ... compared 45mm Radi's

All in all... its a very nice watch...

I'll bet you'll enjoy wearing it!

Have fun!

Sorry, I don't know what happened there, that came out completely wrong and made me sound like I was being a complete dick  :(

What I meant it to come out like was...

I would like to see more photos of the back etc! It's a great, clean look :)

If I had lots of spare cash I would probably get one to add to my sterile self-build, but as I haven't, I will have to stick with my lowly 2533 homage/rep! :)

it is said, that back in 1930's this experimental dial was proposed by rolex for the radiomirs. panerai didn't used it. so only a few prototypes remained. if you look carefully you will be able to see an early stage of the submariner dial. check it out...

cheers
