decus 0 Posted September 29, 2012 More than a couple fishy things about that watch. Such as? I'm sure you sat through the discussion I had with Luth. I think he was saying something about the position of the serial number. The serial being to high. I'm not an expert but you might want to have a look urself. If its a Gen then no big deal to me and if it's a rep still no big deal to me. :coffee2:
Luthier 1 Posted September 29, 2012 Serial numbers between lugs on Rolex always in the center, I've never seen any so close to the bezel. But I'm not an expert in Explorers. And movement looks kinda fishy too, but again - I'm not an expert. But no box/papers - big red flag.
decus 0 Posted September 29, 2012 Anyhow.. if it's a gen and passes the pro test. I'll buy it before the auction ends.. Nice an cheap Lol

Luthier 1 Posted September 29, 2012 So, it is common for Rolex to stamp word "GENEVA" and number "3000" like kids in 1st grade, not in line? Well... then I'm definitely not an emperor.

The 3000 is not much of a movement. There's no fine regulator on the balance cock meaning it's Microstella. No one has repped that. Lots of other reasons too. Luthier 1 Posted September 29, 2012 Agreed. My Q is - does Rolex really make stamping like this?
