diplosa 0 Posted October 5, 2012 Ok, add this to my collection. Bought this yeaaars ago, I want to say, about 7-10 years ago on Canal Street in NYC. Surprisingly, it still going strong and keeps an excellent time. Since this was bought before I even knew anything like this site existed, I have no idea what kind of movement it is... Any Daytona gurus, how would I check? I will post pics as soon as I figure out how to remove back panel. Share your thoughts
Leigh 0 Posted October 5, 2012 Hi, no expert, but looks like a 21J movement to me. I have a couple of them, been running for years - nice watch BTW.
Bobbylah 135 Posted October 5, 2012 With that moving second hand I would agree with the 21j. Bought a couple very similar - white face and a black face TT in '98-99. Whitey shit the bed about 5 years ago, TT still rocking and rolling when I sold it
diplosa 0 Posted October 5, 2012 Thank you. Just to add to above, not sure if its typical, but this particular rep has a Rolex crown engraving on the inside at 6. It is only visible if you look at a certain angle, yet again, I'm no expert, but it looks pretty darn good for a rep with all the little details.
Leigh 0 Posted October 5, 2012 yep, mine also, nice rep, but the second hand is a dead give away.
diplosa 0 Posted October 5, 2012 yep, mine also, nice rep, but the second hand is a dead give away. Dead give away, what do you mean?
Leigh 0 Posted October 5, 2012 The second hand runs continuously on the 21 J. On the 7750 reps the second hand stays still at 12 until you operate the crono.
Arism 26 Posted October 5, 2012 (edited) It's a give away because it's a faux chronograph movement. So the big seconds hand is always ticking instead of only ticking after pusher has been pushed. [edit] beat me to it Edited October 5, 2012 by Arism
diplosa 0 Posted October 5, 2012 Oh, your talking about second hand at 6?.. No, it doesn't move. All sub dials are broken, I've been abusing it and honestly, don't remember if they ever worked. Hands on sub dials move if I push buttons, the one at 6 moves when I set time.... Heck if I know what it all means
diplosa 0 Posted October 5, 2012 Gotcha, gotcha, learned something new. Now, what size is the strap on this rep? I damaged the SS and would like to exchange it with the leather one.
Leigh 0 Posted October 5, 2012 20mm just checked on mine
