greg_r 81 Posted October 15, 2012 I've generally been rather less interested in the auto PAMs - my preferences tend towards the handwinds, but we gave away a PAM 104 a few months back (kindly donated by MR) and I was very impressed with the general quality during the brief spell it was in my hands. What swung me into wanting one, however, was having the chance to try on the gen two or three weeks ago. What really got me was that I really couldn't tell the difference between that and the rep we'd given away. Both look and feel were pretty much spot on. Okay, so it's a Panerai super rep. Gotta have one So here it is. It came with the usual rubber strap, which I hate, so I'm going to have to come up with a decent deployant strap for it, but otherwise it's as I remember it - and there's still nothing that jumps out at me vs the gen. Honestly, short of a close up side-by-side comparison, I'm still very hard put to tell the difference... It just looks and feels like real quality - one of the most gen-like watches I own and right up there with the Breit SOHv2 and my Santos XL. Whether it converts me to automatic PAMs with sausage dials remains to be seen
oscarmadfish 0 Posted October 15, 2012 looks very nice Greg but you will bin all your pams when you get your RWG
onzenuub 307 Posted October 15, 2012 Like you said, it's just another Panerai.
James. 4 Posted October 15, 2012 Nice one boss-man. Also not an auto-PAM fan (hey that rhymes) but they have their uses. Well, not really, just certain models don't come in hand-wind.
Mystery Shopper 5,887 Posted October 15, 2012 I remember that competition sold out in about a day over a quiet weekend. Very nice watch!

greg_r 81 Posted October 15, 2012 looks very nice Greg but you will bin all your pams when you get your RWG Bin, unlikely, but whether I'll be wearing 'em as often is another matter
oscarmadfish 0 Posted October 15, 2012 your 187 ( or what ever number it is ) is the best pam by a country mile in my book
greg_r 81 Posted October 15, 2012 your 187 ( or what ever number it is ) is the best pam by a country mile in my book I love the 187, but the Fiddy is way ahead of all the other modern PAMs for me. The 187 is probably in second place, though
trailboss99 994 Posted October 15, 2012 What's in that, 7750?

andepad 0 Posted October 15, 2012 Greg The 104's are very nice... a lot of detail put into this rep. ... I especially like that they polished pinion - very gen like. Would be nice on a brown croc strap ;-) Anyway - congrats on this beautiful acquisition!
Pmcclean18 0 Posted October 15, 2012 Here's mine on a brown orloff croc. Looks the business...
Member X 91 Posted October 15, 2012 (edited) Well, I'm afraid to say that auto PAMs (bar the 187) continue to evade my 'want' list... Glad to hear it's another top quality rep, though I wonder if Panerai will start implementing anti-counterfeiting technology in the not too distant future? Someone at Richmont must surely have seen the quality of the recent stuff and had concerns by now... Edited October 15, 2012 by Member X
NFleischer 4,355 Posted October 16, 2012 . Nice looking watch there boss. I like the auto PAM's with sausage dials myself.
Prancuzas 0 Posted November 16, 2012 Can anyone tell me the difference between Hfac and Noob 104? Because price difference is ~60usd.
greg_r 81 Posted November 16, 2012 The noob version (as above) is the better quality one...
best replica in usa 0 Posted November 17, 2012 The 104 was the first Pam I saw and fell in love. I love it! One of the best looking watches around!
UmpaHimself 222 Posted November 17, 2012 Love it G. I always use the date function on my watch and I really like how Panerai magnifies them. Although, I have heard that on certain reps the date can be too distorted. I'm also with you on the hand winds. Not a huge fan of the Asian 7750. I assume that's what is in this. It gets the job done though, especially when it comes to chronos with sec @ 9.
omni 6 Posted November 17, 2012 Greg, great choice, PAM 104 was my first PAM love, simple, classic and still my favorite.
greg_r 81 Posted November 17, 2012 Thanks Omni Umpa - yes, it's a 7750, but you'd be amazed how much better 7750s can be once you take the chronos off. Pull out the crown and change the date - this thing even feels like gen.
gB. 0 Posted November 17, 2012 The noob 104 is a great watch. Miss my 104i that had amazing AR. :( Looks like the crystal needs to be pressed in on this one tho...
greg_r 81 Posted November 18, 2012 Yeah, I know I didn't actually spot that until after I took the photos and was too damned lazy to take 'em again. The crystal was, as you say, not quite seated properly. Now fixed
Loonie 0 Posted November 18, 2012 I got mine on rubber and changed it for steel. Wear it lots...
solkryssare 109 Posted November 18, 2012 104 and 164 are the only autos I really want. Nice one G
