howasong 0 Posted January 23, 2010 I did a quick search in the forum but nothing much came up, so here is my question to you all? How do you store your watches? I google for "watch box" and "watch storage", then look on eBay as well. I kind of like the ideas of having winders combined with storage drawer, something like this : And you can see more detail information here on eBay, or here. Has anyone happen to have one of these at home and can comment on the quality of the winder? How reliable are these? Obviously it's the built-in winders that makes these cost much more than regular watch boxes, so I would like to know how good these winders are if anyone has experience with them. Or perhaps some handy member actually build their own watch exhibition/presentation/storage box that would like to share with rest of us? maybe some pictures? My own idea is to have this glasses cabinet from Ikea : combined with some nice watch exhibition boxes or with something similar to the nice watch tree KBH has. Together, that will be a nice exhibition cabinet for my new hobby.
sconehead 5 Posted January 23, 2010 I have a gen KBH 2 watch stand that I won (don't tell Dingle) keep my gens in their original boxes and have a carbon fibre watchbox off the bay for my reps. Everybody seems to recommend Acertimer for the winders...

trailboss99 996 Posted January 24, 2010 Those Ikia cabs are a favorite the world over. Pity they want 190 bucks for them here unless they are on sale. So handy to display sooooo many things. As for winders, the cheapie winders off the bay are usualy crap. Noisey as all hell and tend to have a very short life. Best place for a winder/box is www.acetimer.com good realiable gear at very reasonable prices. Col.
greg_r 83 Posted January 24, 2010 As Col says, acetimer.com are a good source of reliable inexpensive winders (most other cheaper winders are pretty unreliable, so be careful what you buy). Personally I just stick with a watchbox - I have a 40 capacity box from modalo. With a little light installed on top, it is very nice. Will check out those acertimer winder for sure. Edited January 24, 2010 by howasong

trailboss99 996 Posted January 24, 2010 $59? Yeah, that would be right, everything like that is expensive when you live on the bottom of the world. The light BTW is an extra thirty bucks here. I only buy them on sale. Col.
howasong 0 Posted January 24, 2010 And I think this AceTimer is the same one as this ebay one, they look exactly the same, so I think they are probably made by the same factory in China, and the ebay one has free ground shipping.

Careful. They may possibly be the same basic box, but that doesn't mean that they're running the same winder motors. The cheap ones burn out real quickly.... madcatlancelot 1 Posted January 24, 2010 I use a watch box that I got from Howard's Storage World (an Aussie shop in Singapore) for $18, it's a 6-watch box that has an open top. The Breitlings are on top, a beige BCE, graphite Skyland Avenger, and a white SOSF. This is the other half of the box, an SSD lite (my favorite), a "beginmariner" LV Sub, and the Milgauss, all from Trevor. The PAM 005 and the mini Fiddy were kept inside a two-watch carrier, where is Milgauss is sitting. PAM 005 Mini Fiddy with green numbers and hour markers

trailboss99 996 Posted January 25, 2010 Yeah, spoudart was lucky to get that box. It's one of two and a beauty! The great thing about Ace is the guy who owns the place actualy cares. He is never to busy to take a call on the phone and sort out a problem, If you do get a breakdown and don't want to ship the box back he will send the parts and talk you thru the replacment on the phone. How many places do you get that service now days? Col.
