erang 0 Posted February 3, 2010 Hi, I ordered a 44mm luminor style homage (with Superlume) from Getat. For some reason I thought a polished case & bezel with a brushed corwn guard would look good. From what I've seen most of the polished mid/low end reps/homages have a "cheap" looking crown guard. What do you think? Should I go for an all polished or an all brushed combo? Do you think my combo will look nice? Thanks, Eran
Member X 91 Posted February 3, 2010 I reckon that will look good, I'm sure that some PAMs have a similar style? If you want to polish it up later you can always do that too Pics when you get it!
greg_r 84 Posted February 3, 2010 Personally I'd go for case and crown guard the same finish, but maybe that's just me. A CG is easy and cheap enough to replace if you decide it doesn't work (Jackson Tse sells 'em for $10 ish) or you can always just polish the thing yourself. erang 0 Posted February 3, 2010 Thanks guys, I guess Greg is right. I can always replace the CG... So now I wait... I'll post some pics when it arrives. Cheers, Eran
trailboss99 997 Posted February 3, 2010 It depends on the strap and dial style but the brushed CG with polished case can and does work on Pams. Look at it this way, Pam owners go thru CGs at a great rate anyway what with polishing, profileing to case and pin mods so if you decide to go polished and don't want to polish that one you have a spare to pratice on. erang 0 Posted February 8, 2010 Well... I'm still waiting for Tat to send my watch. I know it can be a while... In the meantime, I've been lurking around some of the 'Homage Oriented' web resources and seen how good Homages can get. I was especially impressed by JOA's work. It sure builds an appetite. What do you guys reckon? is the 400~ USD difference between Tat's and JOA's prices proportional to the difference in quality? Do you think a modder can take a Getat watch and upgrade it (dial, CG, AR, tuneup etc. ) for a reasonable fee(let's say a 100-150 USD)? Would you invest in such an upgrade? Cheers, Eran
trailboss99 997 Posted February 8, 2010 Well you ain't gunna get all that for 150 bucks mate. AR is 50-70 on it's own. A service can run to around 100 or more and a realy good dial is at least 60. And no, there is no way I would spend 500 on an homage. Why? It isn't trying to be just like the gen so why should you? Col.
greg_r 84 Posted February 8, 2010 JOAs work is good, worth $400 more? No way. I just don't see the point, frankly.
cybee 0 Posted February 8, 2010 Well... I'm still waiting for Tat to send my watch. I know it can be a while... I put an order in last Friday and Tat said he had a lot of orders to fill so shipments were a little behind. So pull up a venti coffee and savor the wait. I must say that Tat is a prompt communicator with his customers. A top notch guy. Look forward to your pics.

erang 0 Posted February 25, 2010 Hi, I just received an email from Tat informing me that my watch has been sent. Hopefully, it will land on my doorstep in a few weeks. There was a minor misunderstanding regarding the crown guard - I asked for a polished case with a brushed crown guard but Tat responded promptly and replaced it. All in all, the watch looks great and the lume is awesome(!) IMHO. I can't wait to get it... Here are some pictures of the completed watch that Tat had sent (still with the polished CG): Eran
