LightGeek 25 Posted January 16, 2013 I wonder what it would take to align that 12 marker better with the crown. ________________ Sent from my mobile device. Please excuse the brevity of this post.
Bob Reed 0 Posted January 16, 2013 A lot more then you might think. Those markers are pinned in place. You would have to either bend the pin or cut one off and glue the marker back in.

Bob Reed 0 Posted January 16, 2013 I think it is a 2 drink job... First question is how are you going to cut off the pin?

LightGeek 25 Posted January 16, 2013 I think it is a 2 drink job... First question is how are you going to cut off the pin? No no that's preparation. I like to get things on the fly. I'm guessing dremel with diamond cutting wheel. ________________ Sent from my mobile device. Please excuse the brevity of this post.
peakpower 0 Posted January 16, 2013 Nice job on the pearl. However, excuse me for asking a question. But isn't that dial incorrect for the Submariner ceramic two-tone black?? Shouldn't the ceramic black two-tone Sub model have a dial with white lettering? I know the original Submariner 16613 dial has gold lettering. But since Rolex switched to the ceramic insert and maxi dial in the new Submariner, the only gen Submariners that I've seen with gold lettering on the dial have been the blue dial all-gold and blue dial two-tone. All other Ceramic Submariner models have white lettering on the dial. Am I mistaken?

jerkstore 14 Posted January 16, 2013 Excellent thread. You've convinced me to try my hand at some DIY work, once I get my hands on a cheapie.
fatarms 7,758 Posted January 16, 2013 Great thread ( is there no other way to remove the pearl without taking off the bezel ? ) Usually the metal pearl holder can be pried off the bezel. It has a stem that sits in a hole drilled in the insert. However, if you are going to redrill the hole in the insert, you'd best do it while it's off the bezel itself. Ceramic bezels crack easily I hear. You also risk scratching the lumed triangle, etc. I used a soldering iron and very quickly heated the back side where the pin is and it fell out. There's probably easier ways but not more fun! The hole is something like 5 times bigger than the pin on this one as you can see. ________________ Sent from my mobile device. TXJayhawk 0 Posted January 17, 2013 It seem just like working on cars. You set out to do one little thing and before you know it you have a new tool set and you are working all night because your car/watch is in pieces and your online posting pics or searching DIYs to be able to get to work on time. I may stop buying gens so I don't feel so bad if I royally fuck one up.
paulc 0 Posted March 18, 2013 Enjoyed reading through this thread and it looks much better, it has also inspired me to think about some DIY waterproofing...I saw some watch tools in a shop near me the other week and I think that I am going to drop by and pick them up, thanks again
