CG pin job

Recommended Posts

mad dawg

I thought to share this with you....

One of my recent purchases came with a CG pin that was way way too short. Not having a selection of SS wire, I was considering getting a JacksonTSE CG to take the pin from. Then I had the bright idea of checking the left over link pins from bracelet resizing. Lady luck was on my side because one (from a J12) fitted perfect, so perfect that the lever was even tight and no glue was necessary.

This job took about an hour and I think the results are excellent. Thanks to the forum for passing all the little bits of knowledge to make this possible.

Donor pin from J12 strap. Funny enough the ladies strap has thicker pins than the mens strap.

Cut the head off with some side cutters

The pin needed a shoulder to fit into the smaller back hole. I don't have micro lathe, so I held it in a drill chuck a did a little filing.

Finished filing. Note the shoulder.

I then filed the pin down to length, checking the length periodically. (front and back photos)

A bit of wet-n-dry sanding, final assembly and she looks great.
