Does anyone know anything about Urwerk replicas?

Recommended Posts

CheeseCake

Hi,

I don't belive that a Urwerk 201 exists as replica.

Here is link to a website that "offers"this watch.

http://www.perfer-wholesale.com/replica-urwerk-ur201-bg-ur201-men-watch-p-6000.html

Does anyone know anything about Urwerk replicas?

I appreciate your help.

Thanks

Robert

Most higher end reps sell for more than that one costs, I would highly doubt that any replicas exist because there wouldn't be any money to be made on them by the manufacturers.

Gotta be a scam site. There's no way that's real. No Urwerk reps.

I've never heard of an Urwerk rep, as a niche brand with very unusual complications, I'd say they're impossible to copy.

Wow!! they've repped the 'Torpedo'.........http://www.perfer-wholesale.com/replica-urwerk-ur110-cillection-techn-ical-details-urwerk-ur110-tth-men-watch-p-5974.html :D

They have 994 units in stock which likely means 6 people were scammed already :)

oh ya... Gen is $200k

used can be found for $100-110k....

they are without a doubt, FAR too sophisticated to be produced in rep form.

I love them, they are so ugly, they are cool.

+1 on their appeal though if i had a spare $100k to bung on a watch it wouldn't make my top 20.

I don't think it is rep-able at all. Remember the main decider is movement availability, which is none for this.

It's an interesting piece, I like it but this is way off my budget.

as of right now there are certain limitations to what kind of movement i can use in this watch, the space i have to work with is very small and since I cannot machine some of the parts to the same precision and exact tolerance that Urwerk does there will be more friction on the rotor dial and barrels that rotate. Due to these limitations i needed a movement that has a decent power output as well as being small enough to fit within the UR-202 case, line up nicely with the movement as well as the crown. another issue was that the movement itself had to do 1/3 a rotation every hour instead of the full rotation per hour on the hour hand. i was lucky enough to find a Quartz movement that fit the specs i needed so i was quite happy. the movement is a miyota 9U13 with a few alterations done to it. However this movement will be for the completion of the mk1 prototype. As my prototypes progress and i fine tune all the components i hope to eventually use a swiss eta movement or something similar as that would be much nicer and more official.

Thanks for the support. I will be sure to keep everyone up to date with the project. It has come a long way but there are still many things to be done. i just finished finalizing quotes to get some of the parts machined at a high precision machine shop, so those should be coming in within the next month.
