Silix Special Aqua Terra...

Recommended Posts

Picked this watch up M2M, (thanks Dator!) and thought I'd post a quick review. I've always wondered the quality of the Silix $35 specials, so when this one came up on M2M CONUS for $35 shipped I had the perfect chance to review it.

Keep in mind this is a $35 watch so this review has some tongue-in-cheek, but also is a review of a rep watch.

First off this watch is a hybrid/fantasy/incorrect model.

It has the index, numeral, date window bezel, and tuxedo style of a new AT...

But has the old AT color scheme and rectangular shape date window.

The logo also has "happy feet" where both gen's have flat feet.

With the exception of the "12:00" index or possibly the Omega logo position, the dial printing and index application is quite good.

The weakest element of the watch is for sure the bracelet. The watch arrived with razor sharp link edges that made the watch almost unbearable to wear. The link pins are very easy to remove and once sanded lightly the bracelet is super comfy.

The clasp is no where close to gen and is fairly thin but does the job in keeping the watch on your wrist.

The bracelet end links are not solid.

The watch back is printed "BROAD ARROW" which is incorrect as the BA is a Speedmaster.

The watch has a touch (and I mean touch in the slightest way possible) of lume.

Overall the watch is very light weight, somewhere between a $X.99 quartz to a 21J sub but is very comfortable to wear. Most of my watches are large divers and comparatively this one is very easy to wear.

I think this watch would look best on a brown alligator strap. I've ordered one from Panatime and will post back once it arrives.

Just for grins, (and mostly for 964boy), here's a shot on a NATO strap.
