Skrimps 3 Posted February 6, 2013 I am thinking about putting this on Etsy.com and seeing if anyone would buy it. I have seen a few ammo straps on there that are going for a good amount and really don't look that good. Do you think anyone would pay $120 for an ammo strap like this? It's made from a vintage Swedish Schmidt-Rubin ammo pouch.
James. 4 Posted February 6, 2013 No. It looks good but not $120 worth of good. Also, there's no inprint in the leather, a lot of people are drawn to ammo straps with inprints/stitching than the plain ones. And i'd think about your stitching too, even if it were minimalist, to break up the monotony of the current straight, plain brown look. Still, brilliant work, tried to make one too once, completely rubbish at it
houndoggie 58 Posted February 6, 2013 nice strap, could sell at $40.
Skrimps 3 Posted February 6, 2013 Perfect, $40 would work for me. This is the 2nd one I made from the same pouch so at $40 I would make my money back plus would have another strap (the other one has the markings on it) to keep for myself. That's win - win in my book. Maybe I will also add some stitching on it to see how it looks.

Skrimps 3 Posted February 6, 2013 Do you think this one would have a better chance of selling?
James. 4 Posted February 6, 2013 Do you think this one would have a better chance of selling? a million %. That piece of leather looks really good!
Niles 0 Posted February 6, 2013 The keeper on it looks huge and kind of throws off the visual balance of the whole thing - just my two cents! Good luck.
Xebryus 0 Posted February 6, 2013 Do you think this one would have a better chance of selling? Agreed. That one is fantastic.
houndoggie 58 Posted February 6, 2013 Do you think this one would have a better chance of selling? Re stitch it and u have a winner.
Skrimps 3 Posted February 6, 2013 I agree, the stitching on it is bad. I think I am going to redo it now with a saddle stitch and see how it comes out. Good thing is I have two more of the same pouch coming in so I will be able to make four or five more of these and two should have the markings on them. Skrimps 3 Posted February 6, 2013 (edited) Restitched, think it looks better? Edited February 6, 2013 by russellmcg
McJules 396 Posted February 6, 2013 100% better for sure. With this stitching, i wouldn't be afraid to ask 100$ for it You sir are making nice progress! Keep up the good work
Skrimps 3 Posted February 6, 2013 Thanks!! I think I am going to throw it up there for $150 just so no one will buy it and I get to keep it.
Wriggles 12 Posted February 6, 2013 Sweet man, you're coming along well in this strap gig....god I hate people with talent!! Seriously though I think it would be snapped up. I generally wouldn't be looking at straps in that price range, my limited funds at present are reserved purely for watches, maybe in a while I'll have enough watches to satisfy my fix and then start going for custom straps and if I do I very well may be giving you a shout to see if you've anything like this knocking about. Well done again and keep up the great work. Serge, Arch et al - look out!
Skrimps 3 Posted February 6, 2013 Thanks for kind words Imibcn but I don't think Serge or those guys have anything to fear. They are like the Lebron James of strap making and I am a crappy water boy. ^_^
