Roland1 0 Posted March 19, 2010 Hey guys, Well Im 24 and I figured when Im older I'd buy an Omega watch. I dont currently own an automatic watch but id really like one. I never thought Id be looking into buying a "clone". Well here I am. Looking for somthing as close to authentic as possible is very tricky Ive learned! I have my eye on an omega seamaster planet ocean or with chrono. How do I know that the pics im seeing one websites are the replicated version or the real version? im not sure if im allowed to post a link to a watch im looking at but im going to do it anyways.. http://sinowatches.com/show_products.asp?productid=1267 Well, I can only ask that you guys can point me in the right direction please. Im really just looking forward to enjoying an automatic movement and getting to play with and admire my future Omega : )
greg_r 81 Posted March 19, 2010 Welcome to RWG! Avoid sinowatches like the plague!!!!!! They are well-known scammers and the likelihood is that you will lose your dough. However, the watch you want should certainly be available from any of our trusted replica dealers (it's available in both quartz and auto configurations, so be careful to get the right version - you'll want the version with the A7750 movement if you want the chrono). One of our dealers listed the latest and greatest version of this watch quite recently here: http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum...?showtopic=2453 Check out the rest of our forum dealers here: http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum...hp?showforum=67 and the Trusted Dealer list here: http://www.replica-watches-guide.com/forum...hp?showtopic=60 Don't hesitate to shout if there's anything you're not sure about! Thanks for the speedy response! Ive done three things since i last posted. Ive decided on a simpler version, without chrono. still the planet ocean though. ive emailed mary, and im currently looking at timeshops.net selection. ive noticed 3 different movements. which one would you choose? Swiss ETA 2836 or Swiss ETA 2824 or the asian version of the 2836 ? Id like the "better" of the 3. Id only assume that its the 2836 ? would I get a better price personally calling these outfits as supposed to the listed price? not that im complaining about pricing! Its 3am and im looking at watches. geez.
greg_r 81 Posted March 19, 2010 I'd go for the Asian clone, personally. It's an excellent movement and there's really little advantage in spending the extra on the gen ETA as the movements are virtually identical. It depends on the price differential, though - you won't go wrong with any of those movements - just bear in mind that some dealers list watches with 'Swiss' movements and they turn out to be clones. They're not intentionally being misleading but it's actually very difficult to tell the difference, even for a watchsmith. Some dealers tend to be more competitively priced than others, too. Mary or PrestigeWatchCo will offer you the best deal, I suspect - and they are probably the only two dealers whom I would be 100% confident of supplying a gen ETA movement if that was what was offered. trailboss99 994 Posted March 19, 2010 Hi and welcome to RWG matey, good to have you on board. Ah the good old UPO, nice choice indeed. As greg said, the clone is almost as good as the gen ETA these days, most if not all gen parts fit so service/repair is no problem. If this is going to be the first of many reps (and trust me, it probably will be) the clone will do nicely. If however this is going to be the one watch you will wear every day and keep for many years, as long as price is not a consideration I'd consider the gen ETA but it's a small gap these days. The clones really are that good. Col.

Roland1 0 Posted March 20, 2010 Thanks guys! Ive decided on the omega planet ocean seamaster orange bezel black dial metal bracelet. it sounds like a half decent rep. also ive decided on the swiss ETA 2836. i figure even if that ETA costs 50 bucks more, the price of the watch is still a good price. i am concearned with the fact that it may be an asian clone of the 2836 that they stick in there. over the years i may upgrade the watch with original omega parts so id like the swiss eta in there. now about them fooling me on which movement they put in. i emailed mary yesterday, and ive emailed timeshops.net. timeshops.net has already been corresponding to my emails and we are working out the details right now. does anyone have experience with them? so far im pleased. their website has some issues right now so i believe im trying to make the purchase through emails. we'll see how it goes. im a big fan of the underdog, and although i like 'original' real stuff, im looking forward to the conversations this watch will start. especially the rep vs gen debate!
