J.Eric 698 Posted March 11, 2013 Hi Guys, I had some free time today so I thought it would be a good idea to paint the ceramic bezels on my DSSD and GMT IIc. I found some Hobby paint that sort of matches platinum, it at least has a little sparkle to it. So while waiting for the bezels to dry, I started to reassemble the cases. The GMT was no problem but the DSSD kind of fell apart. Here are a few pics.... As you can see, the inner rehaut ring has come out of the case. It happen when I pressed the crystal back in. I am using this as an opportunity to re-paint it and the case back and seal the He valve. I am guessing that it just presses back into place? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Here a few pics.... Thanks for Looking!!
1littlegreen 1 Posted March 11, 2013 I like that. Kind of blingy, but not in a bad way. Might have a better idea about the look when you do some shots with better light. The mechanical issue, I have no clue. I have not torn one (DSSD) down. +1 on creativity....Bravo!

The GMT has actually received three more coats of paint and has been cleaned up and ready to go but my camera is M.I.A. at the moment. I looks really good in the sun. (Does it look familiar?) 1littlegreen 1 Posted March 11, 2013 Oh yes, very familiar. One of my favorites. I'm glad that it hasn't found the back of the box yet, so that tells me you are still enjoying it. New shots when your camera is up to spec!
J.Eric 698 Posted March 11, 2013 Ok, I found the back-up camera. Not much better than a cell phone... Originally... I will try again tomorrow in the sun.

Libertatia 0 Posted March 19, 2013 what did you use to remove the excess paint?
J.Eric 698 Posted March 20, 2013 I used 100% pure acetone. Just don't use too much or you will have to start all over again.
SSTEEL 0 Posted March 20, 2013 Good work, something I feel confident in carrying out too.
Uddind 0 Posted March 20, 2013 I used 100% pure acetone. Just don't use too much or you will have to start all over again. Did you use acetone to remove the white original paint? Also did you use primer as a base layer for the platinum? Im thinking of doing my one today . Cheers for the tutorial.
