Onenon1y 0 Posted March 13, 2013 I am noticing that the same style of submariner can have three different price points. Is the $368 version worth it? What are the differences? Should I just buy the $138 version and save myself $230?
stevedrk 0 Posted March 13, 2013 Difference in price is movement. Asian 21j, Asian ETA clone and Swiss ETA usually. Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk
Markrfc 3 Posted March 13, 2013 Yip generally you get what you pay for.
LightGeek 25 Posted March 13, 2013 Are you looking at a specific site that has these three different price points? If so, they'll say explicitly what's different.
Onenon1y 0 Posted March 13, 2013 Yeah they say what is different, but what I'm really asking is if the extra money is worth it.
flyr 4 Posted March 13, 2013 It depends on what you want. The cheaper model is OK for lots of people, and others will buy the more expensive one and then spend twice as much or more modifying it to there liking. For me it's usually the Asian clone,a little more pricy but sweeps smother and I've found it to be fairly reliable. It's up to you. Good luck!
Zachthebaker 0 Posted March 13, 2013 go swiss.. they are already 20+ times cheaper than the gen...
flyr 4 Posted March 13, 2013 go swiss.. they are already 20+ times cheaper than the gen... I wish I was as confident as you in the movement being truly 100% Swiss.

Frankt8242 1 Posted March 13, 2013 Nobody but YOU will give even the tiniest shit what movement powers your watch.....I personally NEVER fall for the "Swiss" bullshit, but that's just me....And WTF do I know...????
746_heuer 0 Posted March 14, 2013 Even if the Swiss version is truly Swiss...the asian clone is the exact same thing for 100$ less. I dont understand why you would want a true Swiss movement in a replica. Replicas are about having the closest thing to the gen for less money, and so is the asian movement. Like most of the times, the middle point is the best one, if you can afford it, go for the 268$ one.
subiim 0 Posted March 14, 2013 The 21js from PC or TT at $120-$138 are pretty good value.
_DC_ 218 Posted March 14, 2013 If you get a 21j Asian job you will have to put up with the rotor noise which is a constant reminder that what you are wearing is cheap, the noise even sounds cheap, like te sound a plastic penny would make if you spun it on a table haha, but if you don't mind that (which I don't) then I've never had problems with 21j movements, sweep is not so bad that it justifies an extra $200 and as long as it's closed case back you'll never see it anyway!! Watches are like women, ideally you want one that's good on the inside, sure, but if we're all honest we would admit that as long as the outside is all good we'll overlook the inner workings..... it's all confusing in there anyways bahaha!
