alfo982 0 Posted April 4, 2010 Hi guys, I wish I would buy a new watch: an IWC Portofino Chrono. Which movement could be more reliable for this item? an asian 7750 could be ok? Or could it have problems with the day of the week at 3 hour? I'm wating for suggestions and opinions. Thanks
sconehead 5 Posted April 4, 2010 The movement will be fine, seconds @9 is ok, so is seconds @3. The day date function on my Ebel Panda is the same layout as this and I've had no problems at all. Just remember to always set the day/date at 6 o'clock (it's never between 10.00pm and 2.00am really) but if you do it at 6, it's good practice and you'll never damage the watch. It's to do with the gears being engaged for the date change, it's the same on a gen ETA 7750 as well, not just the Asian...
greg_r 83 Posted April 4, 2010 Yup - as Sconehead says, an Asian 7750 will be fine with this layout. Enjoy!
alfo982 0 Posted April 6, 2010 (edited) Yup - as Sconehead says, an Asian 7750 will be fine with this layout. Enjoy! Ok... good to know... next days I'll book it. Just to know... do you have experience in IWC watches from Mary and/or Robert? maybe one of them has a better quality watch in this brand? or is it the same? Finally a question for me (the IWC was for my father):I need a couple of suggestions from the real lovers of Breitling and Omega watches! Which model of chrono Breitling and Omega could a choose (I mean, not too big and with a reliable movement inside...) ? Thanks...as usual... PS: could I ask for a gen 7750 movement? is it too expensive? or an asian clone is acceptable? what do u think about it?
