CrPO pumpkin bezel mod (pics inside!)

Recommended Posts

The first thing I noticed when receiving the pumpkin CrPO was the shine on the bezel. It was exactly like the older version PO, too much shine compared to the newer CrPO that has a matte finish.

Old style pumpkin bezel:

New style bezel:

So I decided to mod the bezel. A matte coating would possibly do the job. So step one was removing the bezel. Having done this on a PloProf before I thought heating it up would do the trick. Well, it did, after a wild ride... Blisters on my fingers (heated aluminium is no fun) as a result and a little scratch on the bezel later I could finally take it off. Remving the crystal if you have a press is a easier job (Sunnydale tried this before).

The bezel off:

I popped the pearl out (was not sitting perfectly) and tipped the black triangle with a touch of black paint (Tamiya, plastic model paint) Then I went on spraying the bezel with three coats of matte clear coat finish. Then I reinstalled the pearl.

Haha! Well I scratched it a little, so I am no master at it either. But overall very happy now.

Damn Andrew. He's gunning for top position on my TD list. If he wasn't more expensive, he'd be top already.

Looks great and a cool mod, a great rep you got there, you even have the black triangle at pearl, looking perfectly centred inbetween where the gray lines meet up

Can I send mine?

No problem mate, coating and replacing the pearl is the easy task haha!

Then again, you would have to get the bezel off first, so you can send it to me :D and that job is, without a crystal press, not an easy task however....

Since it's a ratcheting bezel, can I simply remove the entire bezel using a bezel remover and then remove the insert?

Great Job! I'd be too nervous to swap my bezel. Kudos

Yo could try it...I have now experience with that kind of tool. Once the complete bezel is off, I am sure you can reach the insert at the back of the bezel assembly.

Thanks! I was too...in the beginning :giggle: Then I got frustrated and worked my way through the process, lol.

Just thinking out loud. What it one was to take a white scotch brite pad to the bezel. Would that remove some of the shine without taking apart the watch
