My New Longines Hydroconquest - Thanks to Balad!

Recommended Posts

I've got a bit of a Longines fetish going on at the moment. I already have a blue Longines Hydroconquest which I absolutely love, but have been lusting after the silver version, but at £1,000 new (if you can find one) I decided I couldn't justify it (or the current Mrs Conx did anyway :))

Well, one came up on the bay, but it was Conus only and I was really pissed off. But I dropped our (or some of our) old friend Balad a line and he willingly agreed to bid for me and if successful take delivery and ship it over to me. Well we won it for about £450 and Ted was good to his word and my new beauty arrived today...

She is 41mm and inside beats the Longines version of the ETA 2824. The condition is 1st class, with just a couple of minor marks on the underside. I love the YachtMaster style bezel and the dial face is beautiful, it really catches the light. The bracelet and clasp are in remakably good condition. It is absolutely stunning and will get loads of wrist time.

The only slight niggle is sizing the bracelet. There are no half links and only limited adjustment in the clasp, so it is either much too loose or a smidgen tight. However, this was the same as my other HC and I solved the problem by picking up a half link for the Longines Conquest which although not a 100% match is 95% there and does the trick beautifully. I already have the half link on order from Cousins.

I want to publically thank Ted for his help. Despite all the "stuff" that has been going on recently he went above and beyond the call of duty and helped me pick up this watch for a really good price. Thanks Ted - I couldn't be happier with it!

Lovely watch and a great price. Actually prefer that to the rolesium yachty, which it reminds me of....

I have a gen hydroconquest chrono, which is easily my favourite diver of all time and am toying with the idea of buying a non-chrono too. Then there's the Legend diver...

My Longines fetish is getting expensive ;)

Sweet looking piece very classy - enjoy it.

And I thought Ted only supplied Deep Blue or Oris, now he is a Longines AD as well :giggle:

Nice one Ted.

I hear you boss - That's 2 for me so far, and now I've got my eye on a Heritage 1954 ... Doh !

Congrats, I like it much better than the Yachtmaster.

I agree - not sure why, but to me it does have the "X Factor"

He only agreed because it is sort of a dive watch - everything else is not acceptable to him

Nice story !

Also nice to hear that Ted was able to assist by purchasing a Conus only item.

It's the little things like this that make membership of this forum all worthwhile.

Russ.

PS: I too have a Longinnes fetish..........for almost 25 years now, but will wait until I can afford the real McCoy.
