Possibly 4 or more gen ref. 2533 watches?

I've been spending some time gathering information in preparation for a 2533 build for myself, and I thought that I'd share some of my findings about the gen 2533.

 

I knew of serials 116272 and 116275, but since there's a gap in between there, I figured I'd dig around online and see if I could find any information about the serials in between. I stumbled across this post on WatchProSite a few days ago while searching out more information: http://panerai.watchprosite.com/show-forum.../ti-576356/s-0/

 

It covers a bit of information and pics from a new Mario Paci book (Panerai in Florence - 150 Years of History / Panerai Watches - From 1936 to 1997) about the well-known 2533, as well as showing pics of two other 2533 prototypes which I had not seen before. Here's the pics from the book (which I jacked from the above link and edited to improve the lighting and orientation), as well as a couple of other pics I found a while back that were better/different than what the scans of the book had to offer.

 

 

 

Here's another shot of the blue-hand equipped seconds @ 9 2533, from a GTG in 2004, and a bonus shot of serial 116272 from Panerai Stylebook II.

 

 

As you can see, three different ref. 2533 watches are show, one well known, and two unspecified 2533 prototypes, one with blue hands, and one with gold hands...both with seconds @ 9. I noticed something odd about the 618s in those seconds @ 9 models...is anyone else thinking what I'm thinking?

As for whether or not the information contained within is better, I have no idea.

 

It doesn't appear, at least according to the article above, that serial 116275 is covered in the book. Here are some pics lifted from the Ferretti sales site (enlarged and edited also since the original pics looked terrible), as well as a movement shot of what I believe to be the same watch, taken from a GTG in 2009 posted on the Orologi & Passioni forum. Notable features that are different from the above 2533s include a dial and crown similar to those from the later 3646, a soldered tube, and a non-standard movement, listed as being a Rolex 663 according to Ferretti.

Also something that I didn't know until recently, but there were apparently some ref. 3646 watches with a 2533-style dial. Check them out.

Here's the genuine "Patent + Oyster" crown that I'm going to use for my 2533 project (long-term project, as I'm looking to obtain a 1:1 3646 case to "convert" into a 2533):

 

 

Anybody know where I can find a Rolex bubbleback tube to fit the crown? It's a 6.0mm crown with a 2.92mm base, and it apparently needs one of the more difficult tubes to locate.

It's probably an original that's just beat to hell. Keep in mind that it's 70 years old and has probably seen combat.
