My 6154 project parts run-down and pics

I had been working on both my 6154 and 6152-1 projects on and off for a while. Here's a run-down of the parts I used for the 6154:

  • DSN 6152/6154 case, aged
  • DSN Brevet Cross crown, modified by beveling the inside edge
  • DSN plexi crystal, aged and shaved down to be closer in height to the gen 6154 crystal
  • DSN hands, aged with RustAll
  • Ross dial, modified by resin-filling the indices and exposing the dial to cigar smoke and ash
  • Nightwatch experimental domed case-back (from the first run)
  • Nightwatch BBB display case-back
  • Nightwatch brass case-ring (DSN case/Molnija movement version)
  • Molnija 3601
  • Peaece13 strap with nickel-plated brass buckle
  • Panatime springbars, modified by filling the ends with Stay-Brite solder and filing them into shape (emulates the look of pressure-fit pins)
  • Generic 6497 stem modified to fit the Molnija movement

The dial back-plate was sanded down and lume was mixed with Tamiya transparent orange, Tamiya transparent yellow, and Tamiya brown paint. Unfortunately, this makes the lume almost impossible to see unless it's been charged under a light intentionally, and even then it's very dim.

The top of the dial was modified by holding it close to a lit cigar for several minutes and letting the smoke and ash drift across it. In an attempt to emulate the dial pattern I saw on a genuine 6154, I improved the circle around the center of the dial (which was initially very subtle) by rubbing ash around it to make it darker.

It's worth mentioning, of course, that there isn't an accurate 6154 case being produced by anyone (nor has there ever been, to my knowledge, as the 6154 was around 2mm thinner than the 6152-1), so it's more like a 6154-style 6152-1 without a CG...but it's a homage, so we don't have to get all crazy specific like that here.
