Vintage 6154 on 1933 Swiss Ammo Strap It's Finally In!! - Pic Heavy!!!

Recommended Posts

So I finally got my 6154 in from Black Shark and I must say..... I LOVE IT!!!!!

This thing is super nice. The only thing I think I need to do is scratch up the case a little bit to give it more of a vintage look but other than that I am super happy with it.

Great dial and hands. Would you be so kind as to post a lume shot?

Just wear the watch, scratches will come naturally :)

The lume on it is actually pretty weak but I will try to shoot it tonight to show you.

WOW,

that is a wonderful watch.

The strap is awesome as well.

The dial and the strap are made for each other.

A really great combo mate

Apologies for my naivety, but I don't 'get' the Rolex insignia on the crown ?

Get some info of the Panerai history @ vintagepanerai.com

The first Panerai watch case and crowns were made by rolex

So the crown is good as it is

Thanks Uwe.

I'm not a PAM fan, hence the query.

I now consider myself edumacated.

You are welcome Russ,

it is a very interesting history, spend some time to get into it.

But, be careful, the Pam virus can infect you sooner as you want :)

It's kind of funny. I actually hated watches until I saw the 6154 Panerai. I could not understand why anyone would spend money on a watch that did the same thing my phone did. Then I stumbled upon Panerai (a friend who is on this forum actually showed them to me) and I saw the 6154. The history of it and the story behind it was what made me fall in love with watches. Then I started making straps and it all went down hill from there. Russ, here is a bit of history on the 6154.

In 1954, Panerai produced only 30 pieces of 6154 (so it is very rare, and is of high collective value.) for the Egyptian Navy configured with the same Rolex 618 movement as 3646 had, case and crown. The case applied a “Radiomir” dial with strong radioactive material radium. It looks very similar with the 6152 but many of its dial colours are representative light brown. 6154 abandoned the cushion-shaped design, and the lugs were welded together with the case as a whole piece. Viewing from the side, 6154 was rather thin, the lugs were equipped with removable axis, making strap replacement more quickly.

Be very careful my friend. Once you know the story of a PAM and see one it quickly becomes addicting. I went from hating watches to having a handful of PAM and am now thinking about getting a gen. Damn this website and damn all you people who showed me how great they look!!! :giggle:

Ditto russellmcg. Damm, Damm and double damm this world of watches.

If you'd asked me 12 months ago would I spend £250+ on a watch (let alone a knock off copy) I'd have laughed in your face!

Now I am building up a nice collection of watches. I may not have much money, but at least I have the daily dilema of what watch I'm going to wear!

Can't say I'm a fan of the Panerai watches, but knowing a bit more now I can see the attraction!

Never thought I'd like a Folex, but I love my Hulk.

Thanks for the post, and the chance to reduce my ignorance a bit.

You should test them out. Buy a nice PAM 111 and I promise you will be hooked on them.

Dial looks awesome. Strap looks awesome. Little bit of constructive criticism? I'd maybe want a darker strap though, A bit of contrast to highlight that stunning dial a bit more. Fantastic watch, though. You'll really love it

I actually agree with you. After wearing it for a few days it does need a darker strap.
