My Seamaster Build thread

Recommended Posts

Here are some mods I did to a seamaster I bought 5 years ago. It was a pretty good rep but some of the flaws gave away the watch. Since then I have replaced the Bracelet, buckle and bezel with orginal parts. The bracelet and buckle is a direct swap. The bezel also fit but it is a different mechanism then the rep. The first thing I changed on it was the buckle. The china buckle never closed properly. It never had the confirming click and the buttons were flimsy. So I bought a brand new buckle from omega. Next I bought a used bracelet. The china bracelet was alittle rough on the edges and the links didnt move smoothly. I also bought a brand new bezel from omega. To my surprise it fit perfectly on the replica. The original bezel makes a big difference. It has a very nice ratcheting sound and the ring around the luminous dot is thicker and well defined. You can also see the blue insert is slightly recessed when compared to the china bezel.

Very nice "first" post!

Some real cool improvements you've did.

I actually had a gen bezel assembly for my SMP too.. but I never got it to fit.

Thanks, The original bezel has a thin ring that has 3 prongs for the ratcheting and one prong that anchors the ring to the case. You just have to mod the anchor prong alittle to fit the case. Once that fits you just snap the bezel back in and everything lines up. The rep has a wire ring to control the ratchet and it feels mushy when compared to the original.

I think my case were build a little different than yours, cause there's no way in hell that I would have made that fit ;)
