Don't blame this its a piece of heart. Bought it for 1000 baht, 25 euros, on my first longer, 5 weeks, asiatrip. My very first Panerai rep.

Rotor fell off after some time, broken screw. Now its a wind up cheapie I would never give away.

Another microrotor. Universal Genève Polerouter. These watches have an interesting story.

http://www.poleroute...ory-deutsch.htm

Nr 21

Universal Genève Microrotor. A microrotor is used in order to make a watch as slim as possible. Contrary to today it was a aign of great skills to make a movement and a wacth as slim as possible.

The movement used in the watch above. Pic from the web.

Nr 17

IWC 3712 Rattrapante RG, working chrono, gen croc strap.

Nr 16

IWC St. Exupéry, this is the first St. Exupéry edition, he was a famous french writer and pilot. IWC made 3 limited versions. Steel, red gold, white gold and 1 one in platin. The OEM package contained a book of Antoine de St. Exupéry's book "Vol de nuit", Nightflight. In my eyes the steel version is the nicest, it has brown seconds subdial.

Nr 15

Back to modern watches. Vintages doesn't seem to be so quoted :D

PAM 292, self build, PVD case, pig dial, good lume, Noob strap, asian 6497.

Nr 14

Another tuning fork watch, Omega Seamaster, Mosaba movement like the Constellation.

Nr 13

Lets continue with IWCs.

IWC Mk XV, very first Spitfire edition, ltd to 1000 watches. Inspired from the R.A.F. Pilot IWCs.

Later on the Spitfire became a full watch line from IWC

swiss ETA 2824.

Pic from the web, OEM package was nice with a warming cashmere scarf.

Nr 12

As most people like IWC lets do IWCs the next few days.

IWC Ingenieur Automatic, IW3227, 2005. A great renaissance of the 1975s Ingenieur. Build solid as a rock.

Nr 11

Panerai 360 DSC coated on rare special strap. Gen carbonfibres backed with smooth leather.

Nr 10

My tenth watch in this post. Lets continue with nice blue dials. Mr Georges Kern once said that each man should have at least one blue watch. I can confirm, nothing better in summertime :)

Blue Rolex Datejust II, roman numerals, no lume, waterproofed, saphire glas.

Nr 9

Got this yesterday, I am blown away, therefor a few more pics. Enjoy.

Panerai 082, caliber OP II, Amerigo Vespucci, titanium, limited ed of 300 pieces made in year 2000.

Crown has triple o-rings.

From an article:

"This is one of the most stunning Panerai watches ever made. Also, it is one of the most collectible special editions ever offered by Panerai for two reasons. First, this is a commemorative piece honoring the Amerigo Vespucci Ship. The back is engraved showing the ship with full mast. Second, this is one of 4 models made that say Marina Militare on the dial, making it one of the most desirable and hard to find Panerai watches on the planet.

This watch is called the Amerigo Vespucci because it has a hand engraved, highly detailed etching of the Amerigo Vespucci Italian Navy training vessel. The blue dial is absolutely sublime and has yet to be compared to in this same color, hue or in the beauty of this very cool, historical timepiece."

Nr 8

Vintage Omega Constellation Chronometre with tuning fork movement

I have always been fascinated by the sound of these movements and most of all the perfectly smooth second hand.

All swiss watches using tuning fork movement use the same "mosaba" calibre as base. It comes with date, daydate or without.

Here part of an article about these great movements that disappeared with the arrival of quartz.

"These movements are the "Rolls-Royce" of tuning fork watches, and were designed by Max Hetzel, who had left Bulova a few years previously. Hetzel was also the brains behind the Accutron 214. The 9162/4 and 9210 were known as the "Swissonic" line of movements. They were manufactured under licence to Bulova by Ebauches S.A., who, up until then, made several models of electronic balance wheel watches. The index wheels for the ESA tuning fork watches were made by Bulova. These movements are superbly made, and were used by Omega (known as the f300, cal.1250 and 1255) Certina f300, Movado (Zenith cal. 50.0 variation) Longines (Ultronic), IWC and others. Most watches using these movements were tested to Chronometer grade and sold as such. The design of the tuning fork in these watches is slightly different from that of Accutrons(see pics below). The tines of the fork were extended back from the mounting point and balanced with the main tines. These additional arms on the fork are attached close to the magnets. This design gave them superior performance, as their errors due to position were nil. "

And a short film:

Finally the pics.

Is that dial painted?

Yes they are all painted. You have sandwich dials and sausage dials but all of them are painted because they are mostly made of brass.

Nr2 is a beauty JP!! Wasn't in the rep world when it was released, so no clue on the dealer. I do know that movement (ST19). What is the lug width on the 42mm? Is it 22mm?

Awesome piece!!

Yep, its 22mm (this strap). But I think a 24/22 will even look better. Maybe you don't know where it came from, but you know where it will go :D
