AllergyDoc 40 Posted May 7, 2010 Running seconds subdial at 9:00: runs all the time. Chrono minutes timer at 12:00: runs only when chrono is activated. Chrono hours timer at 6:00: runs only when chrono is activated. Top pusher starts and stops the timing function. Bottom pusher resets the chrono hands to zero. As this is an Asian 7750, some precautions should be kept in mind. 1. Never press the bottom pusher while the chrono is running. 2. Set your time to 6:00 before you change the date. The actual rule is don't set the date between 10:00 and 2:00, but it's safer just to set it to 6:00. 3. The chrono function isn't a Playstation; don't play with the buttons. If you want to time something, time it. But don't play with it. If it's a keeper, you might want to get the crystal AR'ed. Bezel numbers are for calculating airspeed, I think. Pretty slick if you know how to do it.

trailboss99 996 Posted May 7, 2010 Who can explain the slide rule part? Oscar just did. http://www.breitlingsource.com/articles_slide_rule.shtml That tells all. You can do all most any calculation with the slide rule on that jigger! Col.
Fiddo 0 Posted May 7, 2010 Who can explain the slide rule part? I think that link I posted explains it. I did not read much of it because- 1. It looked like I might have to think if I did read it. 2. Too many small numbers.
dmisgod 0 Posted May 7, 2010 thanks a bunch. in truth, I always hated chronos, but after speaking in length with our Mary and seeing some pieces from her "private stash", I fell in love with this NAVI. I ran to a Briet dealership store today to put this baby on my wrist and see how it hangs, and it hangs man, it surely HANGS.

AllergyDoc 40 Posted May 7, 2010 Anyone else, besides me, actually use a slide rule in high school?
loketje 0 Posted May 7, 2010 Yep, still got it. I guess that dates me...........
KBH 7 Posted May 7, 2010 I never even figured out how to use the manual flight computer when I got my pilot's license and that's just a more specific type of slide rule. If there was ever a way to take something relatively simple and make it complicated, it was a slide rule. In other words, Dmisgod, Fugettaboutit!
loketje 0 Posted May 7, 2010 the E-6B works almost exactly like the breitling slide rule, actually.

trailboss99 996 Posted May 9, 2010 I wouldn't trust that for any real navigation lol. Um, Fakey, the E-6B has been the std flight 'puter since before WW2, as you should know. It's still carried by most pilots, civvy or mill as backup. Why not trust it? Col.
