HeavyKrush 16 Posted June 19, 2013 Gents, looking on thoughts on these watches. Out to dinner with my business partner last night he mentioned his wife wants him to get a better watch. Wears a plastic Casio now. I'm sure he'll buy an Invicta if left on his own so I want to pick something up for him. Looking to stay under $150. Thinking of one of the two below. Like a Ss bracelet that's a little dressy but want water resistant as he's has a boat and spends time on it. Thinking a diver. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0041LG08U/ref=aw_ls__2?colid=2PQK9KE8PT4OU&coliid=I2X5J8VMUORNWZ http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B006R0KKTI/ref=aw_ls__1?colid=2PQK9KE8PT4OU&coliid=I78XJUARR344H
HWG 11 Posted June 19, 2013 Not bad watches for the money, but the bracelets on the cheaper Seiko models are crap IMO. Though, its a step up from the plastic Casio.
rickyrosey 2 Posted June 19, 2013 why not a citizen i have one of these as well and they are absolutely amazing they only dont have a steel strap http://www.ebay.com/itm/Citizen-Men-Watch-PROMASTER-Scuba-Diver-8203-Xpress-Warranty-NY0045-05EB-/111100482136?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item19de1ad258
bklynboy 0 Posted June 19, 2013 Both nice but the black one has the new 4R36 movement, hacks and handwinds, go with that or any of the other SRP series with that newer movement imho
Lars_St 0 Posted June 19, 2013 Hi there heavy, I recently picked up a Seiko diver from amazon and i love it. I did a small review on it, if you want to see it you can check it out through my profile. I really recommend the watch! And its also in the 150$ range. Lars_St
SSTEEL 0 Posted June 19, 2013 (edited) Both are great watches, but another vote for the black one from me too. Liking that model more I see it. Charcoal version.. Edited June 19, 2013 by SSTEEL
trailboss99 994 Posted June 19, 2013 Those 5s are bloody good watches but be aware that most are no larger than 39mm, always check the size first. My preferred dealer for these is PMWC: http://www.pmwf.com/Watches/WATCHSALES/SeikoFiveSalesTable.htm A little more expensive than Amazon but they won't sell you crap that's been sitting ion a damp warehouse for the past 4 years either. Thang 582 Posted June 19, 2013 I like the SNZH more but would love the hack movement. I think the SNZH is more a dress watch than the SPR. The SNZH57 is very nice because it came with gold hands and hour markers. It is under $150 too
SSTEEL 0 Posted June 19, 2013 Agreed, although this brand new S5 I posted a photo of above is 40mm without crown, 45mm with. Still quite small but not too small. Bigger than the SKX027 I have.
greg_r 81 Posted June 19, 2013 Have a look at the snzh 55 and 57 as well. Same design as the 53, but alternative finishes. I prefer the 57 myself - classy as hell

The 53 is blue, the 55 is black and the 57 is black with gold highlights. There's also the snzh60 which has the same dial, hands and bezel as mine, but is in a gold-tone case and bracelet. I quite fancy one of those... Check out Amazon btw - you may find them cheaper than Creation - at least they were when I bought mine.

NFleischer 4,355 Posted June 19, 2013 Love 'em! I bought this for about $130 online. I've bought many as gifts and the Orange Monster also for myself. Super value, much better than 90% of reps, 1/2 the price Large enough, about 41mm, and the bracelet is NOT cheapie IMO. Only problem- can't wind them manually. axled 0 Posted June 19, 2013 How about an Orient Ray. They are owned by Seiko and have in house built Japanese movements. I have heard the bracelets aren't great but otherwise bulletproof like the Seiko automatics. Easy to change out the strap. http://orientwatchusa.com/em65008b
