sfa437 0 Posted May 9, 2010 Just completed and assembled TonyRome's fantasy "vintage". It started out as an Asian 183 that I had made for Boffman. Tony asked me to do a full-on, no holds barred distressing/vintage treatment on it and here's the result.... The case was lightly reshaped- didn't do the full-on points as I wanted to keep the markings on the case. The dial and hands were aged and distressed- I went for a dial/hand look that makes it appear water entered the case at some point and corroded the underlying brass. The indices were multi-layer varnish filled and should start to have cracks appear within a few months. The case was artificially pitted and repolished to give the illusion of a well used but cared for look. Lemme know what ya think
GC 4,489 Posted May 9, 2010 sfa... you do mods? holy cow, that looks really good! Man oh man, that looks really nice, perfectly aged and all... how come no one told me you do mods? btw: Tony is a real good guy, I've had the op to interact with him on WC and he is a cool cat in my book. Lucky SOB too for getting that 183...lol!
sfa437 0 Posted May 9, 2010 I dabble here and there- mostly for myself and close friends for no charge. This started out as a build from spare parts Boffman had on RG, he sold it to Tony and Tony asked me to play with it. Tony's a solid guy so he got the full treatment. It took a year and a day because I won't even look at a watch if I'm not 100% (especially if it ain't mine) and my pain meds lower that 100% threshold somewhat.
