Baldrick 1 Posted May 20, 2010 Hublot's look like AP's.Is there any connection? Same artistic director perhaps? See my post above Speedz, Jean Claude Biver was the European Sales and Marketing Director for Audemars Piguet, he started at Blancpain, rejuvenated the brand, when BP were bought out he migrated to Omega, then AP, subsequently Carlo Croco poached him over to rejuvenate Hublot, he's principally a sales and marketing guy, with emphasis on product placement, targeting the rich and famous and allying them to whichever brand he's favouring with his patronage, restricting supply to create market fever and hunger. He stole Gerald Genta's original Royal Oak design, modified it a tad here and there and went on the rampage with his mission statement for Hublot, "the fusion of tradition and future.", he created Blancpain's brand identity also by mission statement"Since 1735 there has never been a quartz Blancpain watch. And there never will be."! He's a marketing genius, you have to give him full credit for that, but IMO and it is JMO, the Hublot brand has no credibilty, unlike older marques who have gained respect by virtue of quality and innovation, as an example of another brand which has created demand, Apple who also have established themselves thru' technical innovation, there's none of that evident at Hublot, the use of exotic materials like ceramic etc is not innovative. There's only one other brand that I detest more and who are lower than a snake's dangly bits!
