fatarms 7,779 Posted July 17, 2013 Hi guys, let's say I am shipping a watch or two from the US to Australia. I know not to declare anything really above like $20 total value, but what do you put as the description of the contents? Watches? Clock parts? Pig's feet? I want to make sure that if I were to consider shipping something halfway around the world, it will get there. I feel bad keeping my sales threads CONUS, but the customs thing always scares me and I was hoping some more experienced sellers could let me know what to use for declarations? Thanks, dudes
AndyBlue 538 Posted July 17, 2013 I usually go along the lines of novelty/Toy Watch, that way if scanned the shape looks right. Or costume jewelry. Touch wood never had an issue.

Hazz 0 Posted July 17, 2013 I always put timepiece repair, never lost one yet.
YSS 0 Posted July 17, 2013 They say never show the package on photos here, maybe im overreacting but is this really the best discussion in a public thread?
LightGeek 25 Posted July 17, 2013 "Fashion watch for repair" -- as suggested by TDs, or just "watch for repair". Both identify the item as a watch and as defective which decreases the value for any not-so-honest mail folks.

jeffw69 0 Posted July 17, 2013 Sending to Australia, I have found that declaring "sex toys" or "industrial strength intercourse cream" works best.
jacobarch 0 Posted July 17, 2013 I've shipped to the UK and Australia over 15 times, and I always put broken watch for repair. Value 30USD

Monty010 1 Posted July 17, 2013 I always put a extra sticker on saying "warning high explosive content" But the watch for repair usually works
TheSav 2 Posted July 17, 2013 Broken watch or watch for repair is best. I always take the straps or bracelets off too so on an X-ray it looks in bits.
RussP 22,532 Posted July 17, 2013 Sending to Australia, I have found that declaring "sex toys" or "industrial strength intercourse cream" works best. Australia's favourite imports.
RussP 22,532 Posted July 17, 2013 Broken watch or watch for repair is best. I always take the straps or bracelets off too so on an X-ray it looks in bits. This would definitely work best !! But as luck may have it, one day, Aussie customs will 'wise up' and we'll probably be like parts of Europe. Hopefully that day never arrives. Or if it does, I should have my watch fetish well and truly sated.
veritech 0 Posted July 17, 2013 I had the same question the other day, ended up declaring "Gift" and "Bracelet - Costume Jewelry".
